Great thread! If I had to pick one photographer whose photographs were the only ones I got to enjoy for the rest of my life it would be Bourdin. I'm mesmerized by him. His usage of colors just takes me to another place and his sense for movement is so fantastic. I think part of the reason I enjoy his work so much is because it is often unintelligible - it's ideas that mean something to him and that you can fantisize about without there being a 'truth' about the meaning behind it - because I'm not sure he even knew what the meaning was himself sometimes (a bit like Bowie, there, taking a text that means something very important, randomizing the words and picking what sounds best). Not unlike David Lynch either (Mulholland Dr). He seems to have been a bit of a, at least pragmatic, sadist, but I'm afraid I don't care much since he produced images like these.

It’s funny, I love his photography but I would always have said it was intentionally dramatic rather than intentionally dark.

The first pink image with the five in bed, the photo with the icecreams…the picture with the two women, their faces touching, the two women with rain scarves… all remind me so much of vinyl covers from the 60s and 70s. I wonder did he actually do any?

I wouldn’t call his photos voyeuristic… instead I think they’re intentionally screaming, I was staged… I'm mocking the dark side of life by highlighting parts of it with strong, bright colours...:p

Thanks for all the pictures and the thread, people.

He's supposed to have shot a wonderful campaign for Claude Montana , at the height of Montana's fame in the 80s .

Anyone with any pics for a poor Montana fan .

Incidentally , I was bought the Bourdin book for last Christmas .

Very expensive !!!

Nice surprise .
