I don´t think there is one, I tried searching for it too. Or maybe there is one but with the name spelled wrong? There really needs to be one anyway
I have a bunch of pictures by him that I really love. I´ll put them up when I get a chance.
no, you are not mistaken. this forum needs more action and i'm very glad you started this thread, thank you
while among the pictures you posted there are many i find very appealing and beautiful (a swimmer's body is my favourite, too) i just never really could make a connection to demarchelier, i don't know why....
how would you describe his aesthetic?
oh, and maybe i over-read it, but what's the source of these pictures?
as for your question.... i have to think about it....
i'll be the first to admit i am just drawn to them on impulse, and haven't stopped to think beyond that really.....
maybe its just that then.... that they are appealing and beautiful, and nothing more?.... they don't challenge my beliefs or outrage me... they don't really make me think or push me to overcome some kind of discomfort....
they just please my eye.....and please my sense of 'beauty'....
particularly 'a swimmers body'-that one is my favorite.....it just says PEACE
there's just something so slouchy and almost 'lazy' about the feel of his photographs.... makes me feel lethargic, in a good way.....

i do find him repetitive..... and perhaps you're right and thats why- because he has never cultivated that 'language'.....?
his work also sometimes lacks that extra punch... something distinct.... something that defines it and distinguishes it from any other beautiful photograph or picture of a pretty girl....
but they're still pleasing anyway.....
