joseph, i do understand that that's his signature style but in my opinion one can develop within one's signature style as well.
and i think his images have 'flattened' over the years, you don't have to agree with me but please understand that you can't force your opinion to others either

i think a reason why so many people have problems with his work is because his work is unlike most popular FASHION photographers. he celebrates natural beauty as opposed to having a model covered under a tone of make up and airbrushing. nor does he use women as props. i wont be tacky and point out who i dont like or be immature and post on the board of that pictular photographer. i can agree that he has become very hit or miss. BUT i have found fashion in general to be very boring lately. AND the models are so boring at the moment. yes, there are a few really good ones but i cant stand many of them.

here is a site worth checking out http://www.mfilomeno.com/peterlindbergh/lindbergh.html

that is definitely not the reason why i am criticising his work ...and i think he still is one of the most popular photographers out there ... do you really think a lot of people have a problem with his work?
i'd rather wish there were more problems
but i agree part of this is because the faces he now portrays seem to be emptier than those of the past ...

i actually think he may be the least popular fashion photographer working today. he has easily my favorite for ten or so years and most people (on boards or forums like these) find him boring. i think an element that is missing from his work is the relationship he has with the model. look at his work with milla, linda, nadja, naomi, & kristen - it was great. currently models seem to change every season and no relationship is built. he also seems to work with mostly new faces anyhow.

yes, that might be a reason...
interesting, i've always thought everyone loved his work (and i have never been very impressed by the comments that say 'boring', because they hardly ever explain why), but maybe he's less popular than he used to be...
i don't know, maybe i'd like his pictures better if i saw them for the first time as they are now ... i always carry this nostalgic idea of his older work with me and that makes me get disappointed very easily.

I also prefer Lindbergh's work from the 90's, in my opinion he should be more exclusive, he's is working a lot these days and losting his charm photographing alienesque models.

About Mario Testino he's a copycat, the most of the time he imitates Bruce Weber, Gilles Bensimon and Patrick Demarchelier, his Vanity Fair covers are awful. Testino started his career in the 80's along with Meisel, Ritts, Lindbergh, Demarchelier and Weber but his work was pretty mediocre, it was until 1995 that he did some decent work, today he's just a photographer with magnificent public relations and contacts, that's it.

I do like all the photos posted above, but sometimes I get bored of Lindbergh...he always has the same style. He's the stereotype of a fashion photographer.
