^ no issues, I know the line between bloggers and fashion insiders can get rather blurry- though most bloggers wouldn't have representation by Jed Root! (in company with Sebastian Kim and Matthias Vriens-McGrath among others).

Do you really need a thread for this guy?

Can't see why not, like I said he's actually a pro photographer who got famous as a result of his blog. Besides, he's done enough assignments for fashion publications- covered 6 seasons for style.com, and shot editorials for Elle and Vogue among others, that more or less proves he's a fashion photographer, right?

Well but he's basically a blogger, are people going to post ALL the pics he posts on his blog in here, because that constitutes his work or because he's a blogger we are going to have special rules for him? Is this thread going to be publicity to his blog? It does not make sense.

Plus I cannot understand what merit does he have to deserve a thread, but that is just a personal opinion.

^you're right, his blog pics are part of his photographic output. IMO the fact that he's prolific with them and posts them for free viewing online doesn't mean he's not a photographer. He just happens to specialise in one niche- portraits of people whom he considers well dressed. And if our posts here act as publicity for his blog, I think the same might be said for the work of any (full-time mainstream) photographer or stylist whose work we post about in this forum? I'm not sure.
As far as merit is concerned, I guess the thread starter felt he had it. The way I understand it, the main criterion that the mods check for before allowing a thread here is that the subject of the thread must work in fashion, in some job besides being a model. He does, so I suppose that's why we're here and having this discussion (which I'm enjoying, by the way- I hope I haven't offended you!).

Not at all. Well but his main medium is really his blog. His work is really in his blog. Are people going to transfer all the pics of his blog because it's his work to here? Or is he going to need special rules? It does not make sense. In all other threads there is a need for organization, in my view that's why they exist. The work of all this other photographer's is spread, there are mags to be scanned, books, images lost in unrelated places. On the other hand Sart's blog is in a way, his own thread already.

Yes he does a little work here and there outside the blog, but not everyone that works in fashion has a thread or needs one. Why not one for Garance? Or Jak and Jill? The possibilities are endless.

LS, people are not going to 'start' transferring his entire blog in here, there is a link in the first post of this thread so you can see his blog, comment pictures in there and come back and share your views on his work, this thread has been around for over 4 years and as you can see, it's managed to be only about his published work and articles about it, nothing catastrophic..
And it is not an exception, this thread exists for the same reason Cory Kennedy's thread exists, he's done work outside his blog, has been published, shot campaigns, is represented by a well-known agency, and basically everything else Drusilla has been saying..

^Les Sucettes, as you said, his main medium is his blog, but this thread has been around for a while and I don't see a flood of reposted Sartorialist images. I can't imagine what kind of rules we'd have to regulate that though- anything I can think of seems rather arbitrary. Maybe a TFS thread would offer the additional possibility of his magazine/campaign/other commercial work (which he doesn't share on the blog) being put up and discussed? (just for the record, I detest that DKNY campaign he shot with Hilary Duff. So bland and horrible, IMO it went against everything his blog is about).

As for other bloggers who do mainstream fashion work, I suppose the well-known ones could qualify for threads here if we consider them professionals who self-publish (Garance was/is an illustrator, for instance, and before becoming a photographer I believe Scott owned a shop of sorts). I don't want to end up going off topic, so I'll leave it there.

EDIT: I see a mod already replied- thanks for clearing it up, MulletProof!
