If it's Meisel that would be a huge change. I have no idea who could replace him.

Well i hate the idea of someone "replacing" him, there should be an array of photographer's used, so we get more variety, no more monopoly from one photographer!

^Agreed!
I don't think their going to make someone Steven Klein start basically being EIC.
They should be using many different photographers, so we get more variety as Miss Dalloway said.
A change would be nice.
Fashion always changes so this as expected.
VI could learn from their big sister (US VOGUE)

I agree Miss Dalloway, I wouldn't like someone to replace him and shoot every cover like him.
I'm ready for something different for VI.
Meisel has been working for VI for so long he's an incredible photographer and some of his covers are legend. But I do think it's the right time for a change !

I don't know if this rumor it's true or if it's about Meisel, if it is it's MAJOR !

What would be the importance to land a Vogue Italia cover if he left? it might continue to be a prestigious magazine and I think he doesn't always deliver but who could be as good as Meisel? The other big ones are nowhere on his level I think.

I just hope they are talking about something like i-D Magazine because don't ask me why but this was what I was thinking of immediately.

I really think Meisel has been losing his touch when it comes to the VI front covers and the 'model' choices.

His love for the 'it' girls, and the fear i live in of finding out one of these girls has made the cover again, certainly won't be missed.

but that's just my personal opinion.

When I read the Imagist Scoop du Jour, I immediately thought of Meisel. He has been shooting VI covers for upwards of 20 years- the man IS (arguably) VI! But I am happy. His recent material for the magazine has been lackluster at best. I would love to see a new direction and vision for VI. And the utilization of more than just ONE photog! Meisel has (had?) way too much power at VI and I believe the magazine is ultimately suffering. It's always a sticky situation when the singular vision of one person is the aesthetic of an entire magazine. The most successful magazines of course have their favorite lensman, but also use a variety of photographers to mix it up.

Switching gears, is there any inkling of a clue of whom will cover or be featured in VP J/J?

What? VI existed before Meisel just fine, and will continue to do so after him aswell.I dont get that question at all, i think some of you give him way more credit than he deserves.Yes he is powerful, because he held the platform for so long. There is plenty of models who did/are doing just fine without his help or despite it.

I also disagree that other big photographer's are not on his level, not when we have the likes of Roversi, Sorrenti, Sundsbo, Mert&Marcus, McDean.etc working and doing faar more exciting things than Meisel has been doing lately.Just give them the chance and the platform he has been given, i am sure there would be many spectacular results.

In fact i think your comment shows why there should be a change at VI, when a single photographer is belived to be bigger than the actual magazine like Vogue Italia then something is seriously messed up, and needs change imo.

I love the guy, but i am not one of his blind fangirls for whom anything he does will do. He has been slacking ever since 04, and 08 has been a disaster in my eyes, and so faar this year dosent look much better either.

i-D does not have photographer's under contract like CN, so nah its not them, i mean Wayne wasnt even coy about it. Power magazine? Mega-photographer's blue chip contract with the publication? Its quite clear this is about Meisel and VI.

Sorry for the rant, its just this tidbit was an equal to having an epic orgasm for me, i'm totally ready after 20 years of Meisel to see some change, so it got me super excited.Allthough i doubt this will turn out to be ture, however i shall get my day eventually.

I'm not a blind fangirl either I'm just thinking Vogue Italia without Steven Meisel wouldn't be the same. I would always think back to the good times not 2008 or 2009 but 2003 for example. I know Vogue Italia has always been powerful but back then Linda, Christy and all ruled and they have been on every magazine but today it's kind of an accolade to grace the cover because it's lensed by Steven Meisel and that means a lot to casting directors.

I don't think Roversi, Sorrenti or the ones you listed are bigger or more influental to be honest. They are amazing for sure and I'm glad you didn't say I&V but I'm just saying Meisel still is ahead of them when it comes to the name I think. Maybe that's wrong.

I still think he is the best photographer who currently works maybe you will find a shoot by Sundsbo that will be better than one of Meisel's shoots and he really fails recently but why should I give up on him already? To get Roversi?

Yeah I don't know why I thought of i-D either and there isn't any other magazine having such astrict contract with a photgrapher I guess. Maybe it was just a wish it would be i-D...

^^I'm not taking away what he and Sozzani did for the magazine, but it was always a good mag, its just for me at this point it should be better.

I didnt mean to imply you are (meant it more general, because its seems he cant do no wrong for some), sorry Marcel.

And i so agree, man when he is good he is AMAZING, i will forever treasure some of the issues. He did build this myth and i know what you mean, but for me, someone who loves fashion photography and different styles, he hasnt been justifying the amazing position (or reputation for that matter) he has been holding. Those other photographers, perhaps are not as influential, but they could be, they all have talent that equals his, imho.

Oh no you shoudnt give up on him, to me Roversi over him at this point; not so bad, lol.

Well its probably the usual gossip before his contract runs out, like with Wintour who has been plagued by rumors of replacement aswell, since hers expires at the end of the year too. But it would be an end of an era for sure, if it happened.............

ps: Meisel has not been stellar in my books lately, but I&V have been criminal, so they are not on any of my lists!

Despite a ‘Public Enemies‘ no-show Marion Cotillard will still be attending this year’s Cannes Film Festival! Dior and Elle Magazine are hosting a dinner in honor of Marion Cotillard during the festival.

I hope this means we'll see Marion on an upcoming ELLE cover?
