An enigma is something that is puzzling or difficult to understand. Judging from the comments on here, she is in fact an enigma.

I actually think they leveraged their brand off of the success of their father and their family dynamic.

Can you imagine the interview? What would they talk to her about? How hard her life has been trying to manage a new baby, a husband with potentially the largest ego known to man, and how through it all she still manages to take a mirror selfie and plug a horrendous 'fashion' collection that she has nothing to actually do with? I just can't believe Anna would go from putting someone like Lena on the cover to having Kim.

For me Kim is the perfect representation of the rather sad state we've got ourselves into with society and pop culture.

People are confused as to why she's getting a Vogue cover. There's nothing mysterious about Kim Kardashian herself. If there were, I'm sure we can find our answer in some magazine or on TV.

The Kardashians got famous after Kim's sex tape was released. It had nothing to do with the father. Their "popularity" was also rapidly decreasing after Kim's fake wedding, and interest re-spiked bc of Kanye West. Nothing to do with the family dynamics.

i hate to sound so morbid but im sure the same people subscribed to Vogue are the same ones watching her reality show every week. My issue with her being on the cover is solely the fact that everyone has had a hand in building her up to be something except her. She is literally the biggest pawn. You get these women on the cover, whether you hate them or like them and you get it. Star A has a movie, Star B has an album, Star C had a major comeback, or Star D is a Vogue favorite. Where does she fall into place for a cover?

I dont think this is true at all, and very much disagree with the statement. I mean i for one, dont watch her show, so at least on my part its not true. And i doubt a well educated, luxury buying Vogue reader with fashion knowledge would have any remote interest in her show. Of course there are exceptions. But in fact if you look at the report from AD Week, you can see that every single fashion magazine cover she has been on (W, Marie Claire, Glamour and Allure) has reported the issue with her on the cover, was their worst seller of the year. While she sold well for Cosmo, and tabloids, because THAT is where her real audience is, not Vogue or any major fashion publication, because they rejected issues with her on the cover.

I rarely post on this board but I have to come out of hibernation just say how absolutely horrible this is. Putting her on the cover for what? What exactly has she accomplished? Wow US Vogue has really hit the skids.

i didn't mean to generalize all of the readers, but if she isn't selling why is she being put on the covers?

Kim gracing the cover (or even the pages) of Vogue would be a travesty. Utter mistake on Vogue's part. Kim's success is not the kind we need to celebrate and reward with such a feature, her success speaks more of society's withering tastes and values. She is not "enigmatic," intelligent, dynamic, or even a fashion archetype - she has been a Sisyphean mess since being with Kanye and her previous wardrobe of bandage dresses, leggings, blazers, and Louboutins was anything but exemplary.
Not only would it be an immense lapse in judgement, it would be an economical mistake. For the past 2 years the Kadashians, especially Kim, have brought style and fashion magazines their worst sales of the year. Even gossip magazines - her expected domain- suffered their worst sales with a Kardashian on the cover.
She is a vapid and imbecilic reminder of our society's quavering priorities. And what makes the "fascination" worse is she is not a new phenomenon, she is just a (less entertaining) Paris Hilton with a greedy mother.

Whilst I've throughly enjoyed reading each and every comment regarding Kim Kardashian's appearance on Vogue, I cannot help but to think most comments are more embarrassing than Kim actually fronting Vogue. It's not like she murdered someone or has done anything to us personally. It's simple: just don't buy the issue if she's on the cover. They'll be another Cate Blanchett or Jennifer Aniston cover coming shortly after.

Team Kim !

I have to agree. I don't think she should personally be on the cover but I don't feel that strongly about it.

"Sources" aka Kris Jenner have shot down these rumours so everyone can stop worrying.

Alas, an insider close to Kardashian, 33, tells Us Weekly the delicious report is "not true." Rumors have swirled for well over a year of Kardashian landing -- or being denied -- a cover or feature spread in the fashion bible. That would require, of course, the official approval and blessing of Anna Wintour, Vogue's Editor-in-Chief and Creative Director for its publisher, Conde Nast.
Adds a second insider: "Of course Kim would love to be on the cover of Vogue someday."

I'm not sure any of the comments in this thread are even close to being more embarrassing than Kim landing the cover of Vogue.

She may not have murdered someone or done anything to anyone here personally but that in no way diminishes the fact she's a vile product of the sad state of cultural affairs at the moment. Famous and worth millions for doing precisely nothing and having no discernibletalents? That someone who, probably more than likely, leaked her own sex tape to make money and get herself 'famous' would cover a magazine designed for intelligent, fashion conscious women? The sooner her and Kanye buy an island and disappear off into oblivion, the better. They can take her mother with them too.

Thank God British magazines have had the sense to stay clear of her. You'd think she would be right up Katie Grand's street and straight onto the cover of LOVE, but clearly even she has sense.

It baffles me that stars who have repeatedly proven that they do not sell well on the newsstand still land covers, Kim's no different to quite a few others in that respect. You'd think the magazines would learn from each other's stats. I suppose it's a publicity thing, whilst an issue with Kim on may not sell anywhere near as much as a regular issue, the publicity and tabloid hype they garner is huge I guess.

My goodness, most of the noses in this thread must be touching the moon at this point. The indignation in here perfectly mimics almost every bad parody of the fashion industry and those who love it.

Its Vogues job to report on the current state of popular culture through a very Vogue filter. Anna has said that many times in her most recent interviews. Kim, like a few have already stated, is a cultural phenomena that represents a new kind of celebrity culture.

I hope the rumor is true because I'm interested to see what they would do with her. But know this; if this hypothetical cover turns out to be a disaster, it will be because of the magazine and not the cover subject.

I don't get why Kim is 'worse' than the 99% of the people who have been Vogue cover subjects in the past years.

I'm curius to know who'll grace Vogue Paris next month. Natasha? Edie? Amanda? Anja?
