I'm starting to get very bored of the sellotape effect text now, it looked great on the first cover but now it is so repetitive. The cover itself though is very nice, a lot going on without being too over the top!

This cover is doing too much and achieving nothing.

"Post-punk heroines." Ugh, tired of hearing about punk. Punk is long dead - dead, buried, and decomposed. For an industry that talks so much about always looking ahead, we sure do look back and reminisce a lot.

Happy for Cat, but already really bored with this theme.

Indeed, this is quite an unintentional self-parody from Dazed... which is always a sad thing coming from a magazine supposed to be more than able to reinvent itself. The New Breed? Come on, if this is it, then I'm a crossbreeder at heart. I'm surely expecting more McNeil these days (and glad about it) but I nurture hopes for something less déjà vu and, so far, this cover isn't kicking it the right direction.

Punk is not dead... the underground punk movement is more alive than ever. Many bands, many concerts,... I'm a metalpunk and I can tell you that there's a punk gig every weekend.

That said... maybe the editors have sensed this and are trying to get punk to fashion again? I must admit that most of this "punk" talking is nothing but "rock/indie attitude"... I think punk in fashion died with McQueen and with Agyness going away. Vivienne Westwood is a shadow of herself.

And Post Punk is a rather different thing... post-punk is more linked with gothic fashion and not with punk. And that makes sense too, since the greatest female icon of the post-punk - Siouxsie Sioux - is back on track.

What I get from this cover is that this is less about post-punk or punk and more about the new breed... the new generation of artists reinventing the past (they talk about the hardcore rap scene too).
