What a boring issue, nothing about it excites me!

I get the steamy, sultry vibe they were going for in Nicole's ed ( and I'm glad Fabien spared us Nic's potentially puffer fish lips and too taut face by going Black and White) but rather than transporting us into a sensual, languid frame of mind, I simply get the urge to march onto that set and clear up all of the clutter in the background. Again with the "everything but the kitchen sink" approach to set design.

As much as admire Fabien's rich design aesthetic & history, I find he often misses the mark as EIC at Interview. I much prefer Ingrid Sischy's (RIP) vision for the magazine; I could actually see glimpses of Andy's witty, tongue in cheek, energetic spirit.

Can we please bring back SMILING models to this dour magazine again? Lighten up people! Get rid of that horrid slashy, Wolverine masthead; it's down there with that clunky thing T magazine keeps using.

This magazine used to surprise and delight with its experimental, out the of the box covers and layout. Not so much anymore. As "edgy" as this magazine tries to be, I don't think this team under Baron is the least bit daring or groundbreaking....

One of my favorite Interview covers of all time:

Joh(ny Rotten) Lydon shot by Kurt Markus for Interview January 1991. The playful typography ( note visual pun: IN, OUT the ears) took this silly, unexpected image (what magazine today would dare putting this on their cover?) to a whole nother level and personified Lydon's punk rock attitude to a t. It's not just a case of rosy colored glasses. It only takes one look to see that the Interview of yesteryear blows the current Interview out of the water.
