Lovecat Spring 2011 : Paz de la Huerta by Ellen von Unwerth
Quote:
Lovecat Magazine is a new fashion model fanzine. Taking its identity from the old school Teen Beats and Punk Rock fanzines, but with a sexy pinup approach. Published quarterly, it features some of the hottest models from every major agency. Shot by some of the top and up in coming fashion photographers. Lovecat features quirky fan interviews on each model giving the reader an inside look into some of the lives of the girls we see on countless billboards and magazines .
Each new issue is a mix of models, art, music, fashion and beauty in an unconventional form, we strive to be the first men's magazine that women want to read because of sexy beauty/fashion tips and advice on how to embrace sex appeal. Each new issue will be a truly unique collectors item.
This magazine seems to have an identity crisis, but perhaps I should retain a positive mindset and look forward to them giving me advice on how to "embrace sex appeal". Taking my cue from the cover shot, if it involves lifting my skirt while standing in the bathroom, the only change I'll need to make to my routine is to stop sitting down.

Terrible magazine. Terrible launch party. Were maybe about 12 issues present at the event, had to ask the publicist for one. All very contrived styling and tried way to hard to make themselves seem alternative and turning away from the masses. Plus the Editors refer to themselves as the "Editors N Chief"...no.

I think it looks interesting with some really great photography work, even if the 'oversexed' look isn't your taste in things...
It's a cool idea to have a photo-book style of magazine where models are celebrated as they are rather than secondary to the stories.
Hero magazine does something similar for male models, although I agree there is less sexuality.
But hey, sex is sexy and it tends to sell...
It's like a discussion on Terry Richardson or something: maybe it seems like too much, but it gets you talking and is passed around and so you tend to remember it.
If I saw it on a stand I'd probably buy it, first issue of something like this is kind of cool to have in your collection...
Ellen von Unwerth shot the cover!
The description of this magazine as something sexual that gets 'passed around' makes me hope it comes with free plastic gloves to put on before I open the pages.

got mine only this week, glad to SEE KATE MOSS in 4 pages, and I love Von Unwerth's work. These are very sexy series of girls not wearing much I guess. Large newspaper style format, like a fashion NME/MELODY MAKER if you like it is now in my collection, 1000 copies were printed worldwide. so it is a keeper for me.
