Vogue and Harper's Bazaar seemed to worship Gisele...You can still catch an edit or two with her every now and then....Also, Karolina Kurkova was always featured in Vogue.

This could easily be while we used to see so much of KK in American Vogue.
What does it mean when people say a model has a contract with a Magazine? I remember someone saying that Jessica Stam had a contract with Steven Meisel and that he had a say about what she could or could not do and who she could work with in regards to her image. And then I also heard that Du Juan had one with Vogue Paris. Do they get paid from these or is it more about exposure?

Also Joining in the discussion: Diana Dondoe seems to be used in W quite often.

LMAO!!!

Yeah I can sense that Caroline's going to fade soon.

And Tayla Collins already is becoming a fave for Vogue Italia since she had the Alta Moda edit in July and is shooting another ed from what I read in her thread.

i hate it how they seem to stick to one girl or a group of girls (e.g. carol t, lily d, gemma combination) all the time. sometimes it's ok (hehe if it features ppl i like) but generally, unless the eds are really good, it gets boring and there's no variety.

maybe amanda moore's time is coming...

And Gemma and Lily Cole. They don't love Lily D nearly enough IMO. She's great and she's British

Well, Heather might have made it there if she'd been with us, Amanda is a special case and she's not that much of a Meisel fave is she? A bit of one, but not along the lines of Stam, Karen, Eugenia or Daria.

Besides Coco Rocha just got an only girl ed in American Vogue. I think it says a good deal about Meisel's Vogue Italia to American Vogue test bed.

zembla, overall it's more for exposure
I dont know the details, but sometimes when a model is new and starting out, and a photographer or editor loves them enough, they are going to want the model to become big. By doing this, they make the demand for her to be greater. For example, when Jessica Stam was new, Steven Meisel had a contract with her that did not allow her to shoot with any photographer, and someone else mentioned he controlled the jobs she would get, this set Jessica Stam into the model she is now, where if Steven stopped shooting her, it woudlnt matter because her name is already important. Du Juan, had a contract with Patrick Demarchelier and Carine Roitfeld for French Vogue, that's why she appeared in Demarchelier and Roitfeld styled editorials in the beginning of her career.
