^^ as far as those pictures are tres McGinley (which is logical) i can hardly see any references to the 80s excess topic. maybe there is some explanation to it which is extremely interesting to learn.
as for the nuns editorial, i remember seeing a movie when i was a kid. i can't remember the title or any details, but the visual part and the plot totally resemble these images. the exact mix of religion, sin and sex was extremely provoking to me back then. it isn't anymore.

i bought it without looking through because i was really amazed by the bright lights editorial.
if i knew what was inside, i think i wouldn't buy it !!!!

the nun ed is indeed similar to vogue italia editorial, but it isn't that bad and is kind of different ... IMO ... Diderot's La Religieuse seems to be the inspiration, there.

the editorial for Montana is truly BAD and i'm VERY disappointed !!!! Montana archives and Nadja could do something much more and more and more better.
but on the crontary, i really like the Mugler's ed. it's some stilleven ...

anyway to conclude : i regret to buy it !!! moreover i only found the natalia cover. and i ab. didn't want this one.

I do think the 'religious' editorial in this issue it quite beautiful, it's unfortunate that my feeling of having seen it before means I can't appreciate it, but for a publication that does not come out every month, I expect more in the content - more advanced image-making on all levels. I don't want to see the same ideas in POP that other magazines are currently recycling, but there seems to be a lack of effort underneath it all. The content has high production values but seems one-dimensional.

I suppose that is the essential problem of POP - its contributors are working on so many other projects, that they cannot help bringing their current ideas/visual obsessions to the magazine, so you naturally end up seeing things in POP that you see elsewhere. And maybe they don't have the time to come up with new stuff, or maybe they do try to explore these existing ideas further in POP. But that doesn't mean it works for me, the buyer.

Actually my post was in response to tigerrouge's post which she posted before the images of Agyness were seen. So yes... I agree there's no 80's reference there... but in some of the other edits... especially Bright Light's Big City [which I actually like] there certainly is... at least to me. I try not to compare every edit or image as a reference to another image/edit... and accept it for what it is now... but I'm tired of the 80's anyway

Usually, Agyness is an 80's reference in herself, no matter what editorial she appears in. Sometimes that's perfect, sometimes it's not. I want to see her be versatile and move on to a new look - there's no way Linda Evangelista would have kept a headline-grabbing haircut for this long, and that was back when fashion wasn't eating itself at warp speed every season.

Anyway, in defence of POP, one of my fave editorials ever (with Angie Lindvall) came in a previous issue years back, so I always have a soft spot for it... to me, the magazine's always been about Mert & Marcus.

first...This is my first post in tFS...yay...I'm so thrilled

My favorite is Natalia's cover, Jourdan's is great too except for the uni-brow it's bad in a non Frida Calo way, but that pic of her in the floor whit the red dress is a stunner.

I love the use of the Prada fall collection, and It's awesome that Miuccia herself participate in this issue, her collections are always so cryptic and innovative.
