While I guess this is better than the tasteless porno I expected of a Lindsay-Terry collaboration (and certainly better than that atrocious, recent Muse issue of hers, simply because she is at least clothed here), I think I would've said that of just about anything, including this pretentious eh... concoction, shall we say.

I am so endlessly tired of fashion publications riding on her scandalous reputation in this way. Lindsay Lohan has managed to make the controversial mainstream and vice versa, and nowadays I would be more surprised and impressed to see her featured in such a way that didn't in any way allude to her lifestyle or infamy. Her reputation garners her more covers than her career in any field or profession other than exposing herself, which is really kind of ironic considering how often(!) she is announced to be making some sort of a social or career comeback by the more mainstream fashion mags that choose to feature her.

I'm in fact so tired of Scandal Lohan that I can't even be bothered to consider the obvious (and silly) religious aspect of the cover. I am in no way affected by it. Perhaps slightly amused at the childishness of it all, at the mind-numbingly dumb and blatant attempt to shake us up, to cause a stir. Lindsay Lohan as the Christ? I'd laugh, if only I could be bothered. That's how unstimulated I am in every way by this cover.

I do have a slight headache now. But probably only due to my new glasses.

(As an interesting side discussion, and perhaps in Lindsay's defense(?), one might bring up the question of how this is any different from e.g. Linda Evangelista playing the "saint" and the "sinner" in the November '09 Art Issue of W, but I can't be bothered to get into that now.)

You have more energy than anyone in this thread so far it seems.

Ergh....Lindsay Lohan again? Isn't her 15 minutes up already?

The cover is terrible. She looks like a poor mans version of Jeff Koons' ex-wife, La Cicciolina. And I'm pretty sure in the issue of Love with her in it, they even had similar styling.

To be honest, I have not liked any of Terry's covers for Purple. They are not interesting and they are not appealing.

And to think that Purple had some really great covers in the past (Carine Roitfeld, Kate Moss/Mario Sorrenti, Angela Lindvall, Stella Tenant).

I'm Catholic as well, but I think that calling this "sacrilegious" or "blasphemous" is only feeding into what Lohan, Richardson and Zahm WANT us to think. I can almost hear the conversation preceding this photo shoot now: "Hmmmmm..... How do we press buttons and try to piss people off worldwide? Ahhhh! Of course! We'll put Lindsay Lohan, the ultimate trainwreck, on the cover unsubtly depicted as the crucified Christ, the ultimate saint. Everyone will be so titillated and provocated! And most importantly, ENRAGED! Maybe the Pope will speak out about this cover!" Similar to the time when Madonna peformed crucified on a silver disco cross, this is the definition of shock-whoring (yes, I just invented that word ). And, frankly, this cover does not shock, anger, titillate, or arise any emotion in me. I see it as merely a blatant cry for attention.

I do, however, appreciate your dissection Ariadne. It definitely seems as if Lohan is comparing her public "sufferings" and "martydoms" to those of Christ, which I find more hysterical than anything. These days, with her prescription pill popping, public outbursts, super-promiscuity, and, my favorite, television interviews proclaiming she is a "celebrity hoarder," Lohan is making Courtney Love look like a soccer mom!

I read the same thing over and over again in every Lindsay related topic, it's just so boring. We get it that most of you don't like her, do you honestly have to repeat that over and over again?
I'm glad to see her on the cover and she looks good. Can't wait to see it in better quality.

ENOUGH! I don't think this issue, cover or cover girl deserve even this discussion. Otherwise, Zahms decision to use her for the cover achieves merit. So let's just banish it from our thoughts.

You are too harsh... those poor guys at Purple have to sell magazines. No doubt a cover like this will sell a lot more than issues with Diane, Carine or André.

^ yeah poor Olivier, he needs money to spend in parties

Such a long list of contents and there's not a single interesting thing on it... it's great though , I'll be saving some money. Even the purple naked is depressing this time.

And seroiusly, the cover is not provocative at all, it exudes that "wannabe provocative but I don't know how" feeling which makes me feel sorry for them, and if you add that the cover picture is really bad, it gets pretty pathetic.

if sales are the method which defines a magazines purpose and success then the industry is doomed. i for one am totally bored with this revolving door of socialites on high fashion magazine covers. if you show me one image of lindsey on a night out, where she looks chic or stylish or a film she did that is of any worth, then i'll stop being harsh but purple has 2 cover girls a year - and lindsey is one of them???
