I do believe the issue with Balenciaga in editorial is that Nicolas Ghesquiere said somewhere along the line that he didn't like / want his collections styled in a manner that is different from the runway versions. I believe he said something about how the styling is part of his overall vision so it should not divert very far when the clothes are in editorials.

Either way it makes for a boring time for the audience and stylists. We've all seen the runway show and the ideas expressed there. The best part is to see new expressions. I don't think a designer should stand in the way of that.

I'm going to post some more expressions today - if someone could do a little tally of where we are so far I'd appreciate it

Oddly enough, the Lanvin cone heels are best when left alone. The shape of the shoe is so strange it needn't any distractions.

Dior Haute Couture S/S 07 Tiered Gown

1. Stylist: ??? | Magazine: Bazaar Singapore August 07 | Photographer: ??? | Model: Du Juan | Hair: Muriel Vancauwen | Makeup: Dunja Schultz
2. Stylist: Paul Cavaco | Magazine: Allure August 07 | Photographer: Greg Kadel | Model: Adina Fohlin | Hair: Diego de Silva | Makeup: Bridget Riess Andersen
3. Stylist: Jonathan Kane | Magazine: Vogue Nippon May 07 | Photographer: Horst Diekgerdes | Model: Natasha Poly | Hair: Yannick d'Is | Makeup: Inge Grognard

This is my dream dress - its like everything I'd expect from a Dior Couture gown and then some. I'd love it even if it were accessorized with a fanny pack and acid washed jeans. The dress in and of itself is perfect. Overall I think Natasha's version of the dress shows off the lovely coloring best of all but Du wears it in the most impressive manner. The styling on Natasha's photo makes it seem almost gothic but with Du it seems very red carpet - in the best possible way. Adina looks grand as well but I cannot bring myself to appreciate those shoes.

Balenciaga Blazer FW 07/08

okay, here is a version of the balenciaga blazer, worn just over a gap t-shirt (but other than that, all balenciaga)...
oh, and it's unzipped, that adds some variety ...

Jil Sander S/S 07 Green Dress

1. Stylist: Emmanuelle Alt | Magazine: Vogue Paris March 07 | Photographer: Inez & Vinoodh | Model: Freja Beha | Hair: Luigi Murenu | Makeup: Peter Phillips

2. Stylist: Christopher Eberhart | Magazine: Vogue Germany | Photographer: Sophie Delaporte | Model: Rachel Alexander | Hair: ???| Makeup: Max Delorme

3. Stylist: Marine Chaumien | Magazine: L'Officiel Brazil June 07 | Photographer: Stefania Paparelli | Model: ??? | Hair: Gabrielle Trezzi

The color is what really makes this dress in my opinion - the bright almost crayon colored green really catches the eye. I think that the L'Officiel Brazil shoot gets it right - in the other pictures it can look a bit shapeless. Especially in the Vogue Germany shoot. Where it almost looks like a sack.

Prada S/S 07 Fringe

1. Stylist: Tonne Goodman | Magazine: Vogue US March 07 | Photographer: Mario Testino | Model: Natalia Vodianova | Hair: Christiann | Makeup: Stephanie Marais

2. Stylist: Lawrence Alexandre | Magazine: Marie Claire France Feb. 07 | Photographer: Thiemo Sander | Model: Stephanie Shui | Hair: Marion Anee

3. Stylist: Giovanna Battaglia | Magazine: Vogue China | Photographer: Greg Kadel | Model: Du Juan & Tanya | Hair: Diego De Silva

4. Stylist: Carine Roitfeld | Magazine: Vogue Paris Feb. 07 | Photographer: David Sims | Model: Suvi Koponen

Fringe always strikes me as a little rhinestone cowboy but I think that all of these images avoid that cliche. Overall my personal favorite styling is the Tonne Goodman Vogue piece featuring Natalia. It looks the most like something one could wear. There is something laid back about the whole look and I enjoy the addition of the satin belt.

Great job Luxx you really keep this fantastic thread going, that Dior gown is my dream gown as well, love both the rtw and couture versions! Although I wasnt too crazy about the fringed Prada pieces on the runway it suprised me how well they photographed in eds, love all the pics!

^Luxx, that Tonne Goodman editorial is pure perfection, one of my favorites in years.. when I saw that fringe coat in the show, I thought it was one of those pieces whose sole purpose is horrifying a collection but that ed in Vogue changed my mind completely, Tonne did a beautiful job not just with that piece but everything that she featured in that story... the red satin, the white blouse, it balances everything and it makes the right infusion.. it helps that it all takes place in the right habitat but I'm sure Tonne could even make it look wearable if the ed had taken place in New York instead of Morocco.

Donna Karan F/W 07 Yellow Dress

1. Stylist: Michael Roberts | Magazine: Vanity Fair September 07 | Photographer: Mario Testino | Model: Fernanda Lima | Hair: Orlando Pita | Makeup: Gucci Westman

2. Stylist: Siobhan Bonnouvrier | Magazine: Allure July 07 | Photographer: | Model: Julia Stegner | Hair: Damien Boissinot | Makeup: Wendy Rowe

3. Stylist: Grace Coddington | Magazine: Vogue US June 07 | Photographer: David Sims | Model: Iselin Steiro | Hair: Guido | Makeup: Diane Kendall

While using a designer dress to hide your clandestine nudity sounds like a good idea in theory I'm not sure if it works in this image. Fernanda is sexy and looks beautiful but lets face it she could be holding any dress with that kind of a pose. She could be holding a bag of barbeque crisps and I doubt anyone would notice - the dress isn't on display as much as she is. I love the picture though - classic Testino.

Overall I think Julia wears the dress best but the Coddington's styling with the Proenza hat is very cute. It gives the dress a very Roaring 20s feel. Either way this is a very beautiful dress - I enjoyed the runway styling as well with the feathered hats. Would love to see those pop up in an editorial sometime soon.

I did this little pdf file this morning about the Prada fw07/08 collection...
you can download it here : http://www.megaupload.com/fr/?d=DGLXNHGD
sorry for the poor quality of the images (the word file was better on quality, but I thought some people would enjoy a pdf file)... and my list is not exhaustive...
I wanted to do a more creative one, but my creativity is at its down today...
if I have nothing to do later today, I'll do another one (maybe a better one for quality) about Balenciaga fw07/08...
