Dolce & Gabbana F/W 07 Metalized Leather Dresses

1. Stylist: ??? | Magazine: Vogue Italia August 07 | Photographer: Steven Meisel | Model: Magdalena Frackowiak and Maryna Linchuk

2. Stylist: Michael Roberts | Magazine: Vanity Fair September 07 | Photographer: Mario Testino | Model: Luisa Brunet

3. Stylist: Katie Grand | Magazine: Harper's Bazaar July 07 | Photographer: Solve Sundsbo | Model: Alyona Asmanova, Johanna Strickland

4. Stylist: Franck Benhamou | Magazine: Numero No. 86 | Photographer: Camilla Akrans | Model: Sasha Piravova

There is something very dominatirx about this dress (about the whole Dolce collection quite frankly) and I think that overall each of the images manage to take the dress out of that realm. The Vogue Italia photo is pure android right out of Blade Runner, the Benhamou styled Numero shot conjure's Jessica Rabbit and the Katie Grand Bazaar shoot is possibly the most true the original intent but the casting of the babyfaced Johanna and Alyona makes it seem a bit less literal at least to me.

Overall I think the styling in this case is all about the mood created. The Brazilian Vanity Fair styling is very fun and carefree the addition of the carnival headdress (a work of art in and of itself) just creates this fun atmosphere.

Also: If anyone knows the exact material of this dress I'd be interested to know

EDIT: Thanks Berlin!

Givenchy F/W 07 Studs

1. Stylist: Jamie Surman | Magazine: UK Harper's Bazaar September 07 | Photographer: Jem Mitchell] | Model: Laragh McCann

2. Stylist: Geraldine Saglio | Magazine: Vogue Paris August 07 | Photographer: Benoit Peverelli & Valentin Roman | Model: ???

3. Stylist: ??? | Magazine: V September 07 | Photographer: David Sims | Model: Agyness Deyn

4. Stylist: Maria Almond | Magazine: Vogue UK July 07 | Photographer: Patrick Demarchelier | Model: Caroline Trentini | Hair: Teddy Charles| Makeup: Gucci Westman

LOL Studs. I think that flat brass studs are very punk rock chic - they have a very hard edge that spices up the otherwise normal blazers & jackets. With this set I think that each of the pictures does something different. On Agyness the studs give really nice contrast to the black and white shot. In the Surman styled edit the punk rock feel really shines and in the En Vogue everything is pared down and wearable. I like the Saglio En Vogue best because I think its the closest to something I would actually wear. Though I do love the accessories in the Almond styled UK Vogue shot.

That Givenchy coat is one of my favorite pieces for fall, so strong and powerful yet funky at the same time, I love all the pics of it especially the short version in Paris Vogue because it shows the jacket looking so wearable and I want the whole outfit!

Marc strikes again! The season isn't even over and already this Vuitton skirt is everywhere. Now personally I think Linda wears it best but I suppose she must be disqualified for being a cartoon As such I think the Suave styled edit for Vogue Paris presents the most unique and lovely variant of this skirt. I love the necklaces she chose as well as the lovely handbag and shoes - it really shows how I think one could incorporate this very runway item into a real wardrobe. Most of the other images seem to stick very closely to the original runway styling. That said I love the yellow hat on Morgane. Too lovely!

The Louis Vuitton lamé skirt is so tricky to style. I see most prefer playing it safe and using the original runway outfit, whereas certain editorials show the piece in a completely unique and unexpected way. Linda E. in Harper's Bazaar is a fine example, though the Vogue Paris editorial is far more realistic. I'm rarely, if ever, disappointed by the styling in Vogue Paris spreads.

I think the Louis Vuitton skirt could be good with a Prada mohair top and big belt (like the Balenciaga one)... almost similar to the Louis Vuitton look...

I like the Vogue Paris version because it's one of the looks that strays more from the original runway version and the attitude and feel is different...
the hair and makeup are more dramatic, more out there, and i like that

i also like the Elle US version (last photo) because there is more variety in the photo... I can't see the top very well but I like the departure from safety..

though Linda really is rocking the look
i also like the last look from Elle US
