Not to be mean, but I find all the magazine coverage Ashley seems to be getting a bit proportionate to her runway and campaign career. Especially in the UK. If she is in fact this trailblazing crusader undoing the status quo of fashion modelling, how come we don't see her booking campaign after campaign then?

Thanks for posting the link, Kate! I don't like the styling, it's very lazy for British Harper's. All good and well if they want to use simple denim pieces, but set in a studio would've been perfect. No need for a garden bench.

Love Justine Picardie to bits, but I do side-eye the fact that the UK edition seems also to be celebrating the anniversary. In a way it feels like dishonesty from a marketing perspective. An impulse buyer might be under the impression that this specific edition is 150 years old, when they are in fact 88yo (debatable).

So true! it's just like Kate Upton, colossal magazine coverage and covers for little to no campaign and runway work. Ashley is kind of one those pseudo-models who may or may not have steadily worked previously, but through media exposure has been bestowed as a supermodel and is suddenly on the ANTM judging panel when really she's done limited work. She's a great icon for diversity, and a hard working and kind person, but until i see her steadily booking more than pro bono magazine shoots, i'm reluctant to call her a trailblazer. To be clear, i want her to book more than that as well, because i genuinely want to see her consistently booking big fashion campaigns.

Justine's use of the '150' is odd, but Aussie Bazaar were even sneakier and recently reprinted a feature from the British edition about the history of the magazine and their anniversary, when the whole article was specifically referencing Bazaar UK and not the Australian edition at all. I found that really cheap, why cheat your readers and print something commemorating an entirely different magazine?

Wasn't really looking forward to this when I heard it was Ashley, who seemed like a really strange choice for Bazaar UK anyway, but I'm pleasantly surprised that I like both covers (though I agree the whole body confident thing is getting pretty old). Much better than her British Vogue cover.

I like both covers but it would have been better if they had chosen a full body picture when they are talking about body confidence on the cover...And she indeed reminds me of Eva Mendes on the newsstand one.

It sounds like they're trying to rewrite the magazine's history to edit Lucy Yeomans out of the picture.

I feel like the body police demands that every full figure woman be like photographed in full body mode. It's a obvious by the second cover that they weren't trying to hide her body. They showcased her body and her beautiful face on the different covers. Why is everything a controversy?!

But to put the words 'body confident' on the cover while zooming in on her face seems like a contradiction, as if they're trying to capitalise on the push for diverse body shapes while simultaneously not actually putting that on the cover. To then put a half body shot on the subscriber's cover is not taking risk at all, they don't have to worry about newsstand sales or actually making an impact. If we ever do reach a time when magazines will put a beautiful model like Ashley on the cover without having to refer to her as 'body confident', then you're totally right, but as long as magazines continue to go half in, they should be held accountable for their contradictions. Why is it they can put Rosie Huntington Whitely or Lindsey Wixson on the cover without feeling the need to label them 'body confident' but they feel the need to with Ashley? It's the hypocrisy of the whole thing which irritates me.

The subscribers cover is beautiful. The close up cover just highlights how terrible her US Glamour cover is
