Shulman said: "The pictures quite coincidentally echo some of Cecil Beaton's famous portraits for Vogue during the forties, and demonstrate the Eliza Doolittle quality of Victoria veering from mannered hauteur to the trashy sexiness of her exposed back laced with tattoos."

Yes, I never noticed that comment at the time, until Sethii said. If a middle-class girl from a nice part of England who's done well for herself is an Eliza Doolittle, then God help the rest of us!

I am really disapointed with the cover. Don't get me wrong, I like Posh but the cover was kind-of blah for my taste

I know I may be biased, but both of Freja's editorials are lovely. The Strokes of Genius is so inspiring.

Yes, they are so very similar - and it's just two years ago too

Okay, I don't get the Ava Gardner reference they were talking about as a description/inspiration for the Victoria.B's editorial

Ava ....>Victoria.What were they thinking.Did they smoke a football field ?

And since when Victoria.B is supposed to be funny ? I've just read some of her interviews, uh, I don't get it.

She looks demented to me.

I really like Freja's editorials.

I love the cover! I wish she was as big in the US though -- she has a wicked sense of humor!

I didn't explain myself fully, because I thought I may be reading too much into it. But it seemed to me that to justify VB cover to the 'vogue faithful', she asks them to imagine VB as a character from another high culture text. It's as if she feels the need to exoticise VB somewhat. Anyway I find it a little offensive because to my knowledge VB never tried to pass herself off as upper-middle/middle whatever class so Shulman should never have brought class into the discussion because it should be irrelevant. I especially detest her linking of upperclass with 'mannered hauteur', and lower class with 'trashy sexiness'. The "LOVE her or hate her, you'd be hard pushed to ignore her," implies a kind of unworthiness...would they ever begin a piece on an aristocrat/upper-class socialite like that? Oh and where is Beckingham palace? I know vogue uk love to shoot their subjects posing around their manors...or maybe that would be too risque in this case
