She looks sad. She looks like she shows some of her real emotions. I guess we are so used to looking at smiling masks that most of us are revolted when we're faced with looking at a beautiful, sad person.

I don't think she looks sad, she looks nauseated.

Perhaps sadly nauseated? Or nauseatedly sad.

I'm so torn on this cover.

The part of me that gets irrationally annoyed by Kristen is pissed that Alexandra chose *her* as a cover star, rather than a model for the second largest fashion cover of the season. I mean, sure, Karlie got the September issue, but Shulman does this thing where she puts a model on the cover, gives us hope, and then smashes them again by putting some random celebrity on the cover (see: Freja then Adele, Arizona then Lana del Rey). Not to mention the stupidly big hype around this girl, who seems so disenfranchised not just from fashion, but from her actual job as an actress.

Then, the fashion part of me sort of likes this. The colours of the styling and makeup go well with Kristen's skin tone, and although it's terribly typical to make her seem vampirish, it really encapsulates the feel of the season's whole gothic/Romantic vibe that's going on. Sure, the pink text is a bit of a throw, but it's all sort of this really nice contrast.

I'll still buy it, though I feel like it'll be one of those issues where if I don't see the cover staring at me from my bedside table, I'll be fine...

UK Vogue's Facebook.

And yeah, she still looks ill in higher quality. I really do wish she'd just leave my magazines alone and also that someone at British Vogue would get some form of grip and realize Alexandra is effectively running what should be one of the most creative and innovative magazines in the world, into the ground.

She looks greater in that larger pic indeed, and I don't even like her

The good news is that she looks a little less vampiric now that her skin isn't pasty looking...

Really beautiful even in HQ! Her dull emotions add to the darkness and haunting mood of the cover! Really I like it

I have to agree. The fact that she has no emotion really adds to the cover and I really like it.

It's as lovely as it first seemed...she looks fit for an YSL Opium ad...the very best kind of emotion

My thoughts exactly! It seems like they're trying to compete with Elle UK pandering to pop gossip when it should be the other way round, with Vogue setting the benchmarks.* Even their websites are designed the same way these days.
Frankly the choice of putting Kristen on the cover is shameless, not to mention the 'living dangerously tagline'. Yes, she will sell covers but do the readers of Vogue really aspire to the wardrobe of someone whose standard uniform is a t-shirt tied in a knot?

They could have given her cover look a more 'On the Road' vibe which I think I would have liked better.

She will never be the femme fatale of Angelina Jolie and Eva Green's class which isn't to say that I think she should be smiling in every photograph. Smiling clearly isn't her thing but then what is? I don't even think she looks sad or haunting on this cover, if anything she looks asleep behind the eyes.

Can we please have a model for more than one issue at a time?

*and to think Elle UK was granted an exclusive interview with Giorgio Armani recently, scoring mega points over Vogue...

Looks even better in HQ, can't wait for the contents as they usually are better than most Vogue editions.
