Gemma looks wonderful
![]() but Daria's and Doutzen's eds, blah... I love Daria but her ed is uninteresting. & I hate someone-jumping-around-the-studio eds. Anyway, thank you for the scans, Luxx ![]() ![]() I'd love to see/read Penelope's pictures and article.

This issue seems to be quite active and vibrant - but somehow, over the past while, my view of US Vogue as uninspired and repetitive has become so ingrained, that even an issue like this fails to truly convince me that it can be varied and inspiring. I seem to have formed a bad attitude about the magazine, after seeing so many issues that weren't that great.
I suspect it'll take a truly exciting issue to shake me out of that impression. I don't quite believe that this is the one - but it's by no means a bad attempt. I'll certainly be looking forward to seeing it, just to see how colourful it is in real life.

what's tacky about them?. if anything, the idea seems extremely cliché. I mean, Salma Hayek = Mexican Hacienda, Penelope Cruz = Flamenco and bullfighter.. they can do better than just pleasing their demographics' cultural issues. I don't question the quality, it's Leibovitz afterall and she's an admittedly gifted photographer but the idea is obnoxiously and absurdly cartoon-ish, not to mention passé. what's next, charlotte gainsbourg eating a baguette and smoking a cigarrete?, lucy liu as a geisha?. [quote=MulletProof;3784460] ITA. How about Jen Hudson as the sassy, buxom, black, jazz lounge singer. I hate stereotypes no matter how fashionable. |

Some of the shots in the editorial would've made much better covers (as I mentioned, Penelope in that red and gold embroidered Dior would've been beautiful)
I love that first shot, colors, movement, the story it's telling....that's what the cover should've looked like. Like I said, if you're gonna do cliche, at least do it well.

I have to say that the new layout of the Flash section threw me off when I was reading this issue. For a moment, I thought the first page was an advertisement for the E! channel because of the huge E. ![]()

This whole cliche thing really makes me want them to shoot someone who is known for coming from a very poor or homeless background. I can just imagine the actress (obviously an actress) in a beautiful gown, standing amongst several hobos.
Stereotypical-looking hobos, of course. |
