Why does one have any expectations about American Vogue? Seems like people here are surprised to see such a bad cover like this one.

Michelle Williams and Mulligan are exactly the same with their face expression, trying to say ''Well...''

I cant believe they did this to Carrey.
If there is a celebrity who can look good in pretty much everything is her. Her first cover was fantastic but this is very bad.
Im hoping for a better version because her face looks so bad, I wonder if the Vogue team really thought it was a good choice. The rest of the body doesnt bother me.

It's a joke, isn't it? It amazes me to no end that people get paid for it...
I feel sorry for Carey. Someone had to work really hard to make her look so bad...

I love Carey, but what a ridiculous cover.

In the grand scheme of things, this isn't that appalling, at all. It's just a huge missed opportunity. I'd love to have seen what was originally shot but guess we never will.

that aluminium on her head is just ridiculous, actually her head and the whole thing about her head is the only problem o this cover

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww what is that??? The colors are awful!

- way too much text
- the worst facial expression I've seen on a cover in a long time
- the dress' color is hideous
- the whole vibe feels amateur
- people here at tfs do way better covers than this
- Has Anna really taken the time to think before choosing this particularly weird image for the cover?

All the lime tones are hurting my eyes and Carey's permanent smirk isn't helping...anyway I never really care for US Vogue's covers, I just hope the contents deliver something interesting.

Dare I say that I like the styling, but I think that the bedazzled styling plus the profusion of text is too much. The other thing is that Carey Mulligan's face / facial expression is too soft and empty. Overall there is no point of view, I can't tell if they were they going for powerful, elegant, nonchalant, or what.

If I had to guess, it looks like most of those involved thought, "Carey is an Anna Wintour with a big movie coming out and is going to be on the cover even if she is standing on her head, so what the heck." Whether you like the styling or not, it looks like some effort went into it, everything else looks phoned in / amateur.

I think its a bad image of her made worse by such a bad quality of the cover. Not that it will be a different cover once we get HQ, but the colors at least might make more sense hopefully. The make-up & hair is atrocious, she can not pull it off.
