That isn't the idea behind the issue. If you read the comments of the people who conceived this issue it's clear they were becoming sick of the lack of diversity and wanted to address that by making a statement like this - to showcase all the black models in all their variety. How else should they have done that? To have one editorial with a black model? Nobody would care. It takes something like this to move the industry to a better place.

Already, before this issue is even out, it's created a lot of buzz for Jourdan and other black models and now they have the momentum to push this beyond a single issue.

Maybe Karl will take notice of Chanel.

are we really going to do the whole * we shouldnt have a black model issue*?

how often do we actually see black models doing anything in fasion?

at this point something is better than nothing. Its all god to think that *we are the world* but folks have the right to raise eyebrows when certain people seem to always be excluded are rarely seen.

Naomi is the biggest black model in history (hate her or lover her) and therefore belongs in this historical issue. Seems logical to me

The statement that black women are as beautiful - if not more beautiful - as white women
Now, it was quite rude for white women .

I think that we should never debate whether black, white, asian and so on women are the most beautiful. It's not about SKIN COLOUR! The race doesn't matter, there are gorgeous girls in Africa, Europe, Asia and in the rest of the world! There is no place for discrimination !

I want to add one more thing. I would be 10000 more times happier if I could see black models in "normal" issue of Vogue and the rest of fashion mags too. Not only in "BLACK EDITION" . I want to see models of every skin colours in fashion mags.

I think the cover is great but I feel kind of sad that black models have to appear in an all-black cover and editorial so that the industry appears not to be racist. What they should do is use black models more often in all sorts of magazines and editorials because beauty is universal and there is no such thing for me as "black beauty" or "white beauty", just beauty! Wow, I've repeated the word "beauty" a lot!

Actually this issue itself has singled out black women by color.
Of course I believe there is a good will from Mr. Meisel however it was simply not very well executed which turned this topic rather brutal and rude in a subtle way.

i feel like dying when i see things like this

so color doesnt matter then why do black model get snubbed and are basically told to nt show up at certain shows?

Is just a coincidence? If they are beautiful they why do the rarely appear (unstereotyped) in anything realting to beauty (including fashion);

I seriously think we should discuss the issue only; cause the bottom line is too deep and important for someone to dismiss it and put forward the *we are the world BS*

Just NO

I was referring to some of the succesful white models that are around. IMO some of them aren't half as beautiful as Jourdan, Sessilee or Arlenis are...I won't state names because I don't want to go into that discussion. But still, in my opinion there are lot of models around that can't compare to these girls but are still more succesful.

.
But that's exactly the problem if they had enough eds this wouldn't be an issue.

I'm surprised you actually believe people behind Vogue Italia are really concern about lack of diversity. This is another way to make the magazine sell and at the same time gain moral ground, and then they can go back to what they usually do, they were not exact helping the "black cause" before.

anyway ...

Naomi's story makes me wonder if it wasn't shooted at the same time than Linda's one ... I think they should unite both ...
That was well said ! I guess I'd be happier to see Linda with Naomi too or generally black models with white ones. As I said before, I want to see models of every race in every issue of Vogue. I don't want them to make separate "white issue", "black issue" and then "asian issue ". Let's just gather all of these models in one issue !

I seriously think that people have a vested interest in seeing things NOT change and black models staying unemployed.

Being disguised as *race doesnt matter we are all beautiful !*

Yeah ... Right

ps: someone bring out the pics; I swear its your fault Im on the edge

You didn't understand my intention properly . I shared MY PERSONAL opinion and I would be happy if fashion industry shared that point of view.

P.s. It's hard for me to express myself in 100% because english is a foreign language for me .

Well I'm not a close personal friend of them so I have no way to know what their real moral values are. I can only judge them on what they do and if they use very few black models after this issue then I'll be inclined to agree with you
