Lol! I know how you guys feel. I am pretty anxious about next week to get a physical copy of this issue. This issue is almost as big as when dior's new look first graced the pages of vogue, or the first black model on the cover, or better yet the premier issue.

NO BLACK MODELS IN PARIS FASHION WEEK: John Paul Gaultier rep says 'the agencies have none.'

July 1, 2008

As the fashion world turns its attention to Paris this week, the severe lack of black models on the runway has again become a frustration among top designers. "I asked the modeling agency for black girls for our next show but there simply aren't any," said Mario Lefranc, half of the Lefranc-Ferrant designer duo, one of about 40 labels presenting couture collections in Paris for Fashion Week – held through Thursday.
"I'm sick of blonde Russian girls," he told AFP. "Clearly the trend now is all for blue-eyed blondes."
According to AFP, fans attending couture shows for Fashion Week "will be treated yet again to a 'white-out' on the catwalks." With the death of French designer Yves Saint Laurent – one of the few who insisted on models of every hue – it appears the issue will only get worse.
Jean-Paul Gaultier, another designer known for using models of all ages, sizes, and origins, is also frustrated by the lack of available black faces. A rep for the designer told AFP: "It's really very difficult at the moment. There are no black models on the market, the agencies have none."
In the last few years, she added, "there's been an invasion of girls from Eastern Europe, of their type of beauty."
As previously reported, Italian Vogue's July issue will deal with the problem by featuring black models only. According to AFP, presidential candidate Barack Obama's popularity in France and around the world prompted Italian Vogue editor Franca Sozzani to make the statement against discrimination in the forthcoming issue.

EVerything seems so serious and so global about this issue I bet in a few years there will be a show dedicated to the models, photographer with exclusive interviews.

ok i know this sounds stupid but will this issue be only available in Italian? and no english versions, because the articles inside look interesting.

Oh well time to brush up on my italian, i used to be quite good!... haha

Is it available in the U.K yet? Ive been told by a reputable source that it will not be out until the 25th of July in London

According to a Facebook group, Borders have released the following statement

Hi Sola (group owner)

I'm the magazines buyer here at Borders UK, thanks for tagging us on this group but I need to clear up a couple of issues so as not to disappoint.

The issue in question isn't yet on sale I'm afraid and won't be for a while. The earliest date I have so far is the 25th July. This isn't just in Borders but is the onsale date for the UK magazine industry as a whole. I am seeking confirmation of this though.

As Borders fully supports the wider issue, we are trying to get extra copies into all of our stores but as the publisher is based in Italy and goes through the UK wholesale process it is difficult to get them to print more. I will use this group to show that we will get the sales if they increase supply. I have been in touch with Conde Nast in Italy directly to try to secure copies.

We have had unprecidented interest in this issue already and thanks again for thinking of us so highly.

Now im scared, I will prolly depend on scans >__>

^VI is only available in Italian... unless they do something different [provide an English translation of the articles... as they do for L'UOMO Vogue] for this particular issue.
