i think that if you are going to use kate for high fashion this is the way to do it. that being said i do not this she is high fashion, i don't like her look, and it kills me she is getting more space in vogue than other, more talented models, who have paid their dues.

It's typical slut shamming. When a model like looks like Kate is objectified by straight men, she's a slut and a whore but when a model is has some type of adrogyny or twink look by fashionistas, she is considered to be classy. I'm glad Kate booked VI, looking forward to the editorial and the meltdowns that are going to happen.

Blah blah blah outrage.

I'm not personally a fan of Kate Upton - I feel like there are other commercial models who look a little more interesting than she does - but that's not a bad cover for her. It feels a bit 90s, but it suits her look.

I love it...supermodel 80's 90s sexy yet stil high fashion...I think we may have the next crossover supermodel. No wonder everyone in fashion is crazy about her
So agree with you. And the worst is that as a woman I feel insulted by the way some people trash Kate just because they don't like her and the way she looks.

My comments are deleted because i complained about these insults but the trashy words about Kate are still there. Go figure?

Kate brings something fresh and new (well something we did not see since the 90's) in fashion. She seems to be a sweet down to earth girl and I think it's mostly why Karine, Anna & such are working with her. Her personality takes over her looks. And editorials after editorials, she really improved as a model.

Now love her or hate her but stop being so insulting please. Calling a woman a hooker or a slut because she has big boobs is so .

Whoever said she is gimmick is right... People aren't calling her slut p because of her boobs people they are calling her one by the way she carries herself ie. Cat Daddy if she had little breasts they would be saying the samething I could careless about her breasts! She looks like a pornstar I have been saying it since she did the slurry dougie..I give her credit take advantage of being a gimmick, but she said herself she is a modern day Marilyn or Jayne Mansfield.. don't think so...because you don't like someone you hate them? I don't hate her I can't wait till this gimmick is over though..

^ No she doesn't. You can tell by her looks that she's young because she doesn't have a mature beauty yet. I actually liked her Dougie and Cat Daddy dances. I think she comes off as fun. How many models do you know off that would dance on camera like that? She's just having a good time. Goodness, some people are so uptight. If a woman dances and has cleavage, she's a wh*re or a pornstar. Give me a break. At 20, she can be forgiven for her actions. Why do models have to be wallflowers in order to be considered elegant? To me that's all just false elegance. It's the girls who know how to have fun and don't take themselves too seriously who possess the secret of life, which is to make the best of everything and enjoy yourself along the way.

Please understand the rules here .... it's not against any rule to "insult" a celebrity ... it's only against the rules to insult another member's opinion. So posts that are insult other members and their opinions are deleted. But most of the negative posts directed at the celebrity or model may remain, because we accept various opions, whether we agree or not.

Be careful when you disagree .... just say so and then make your own point, but don't insult the other posters.

Of course, if one person contunually makes insulting or extremely negative remarks about anything just for sensationalism but without advancing the dicusssion in any way is just trolling ... and those posts will be removed too. And it could impact their membership privileges, too.

I think more than half the models who are in this industry that people are classifying as "Classy" have probably done a nude photoshoot with Terry Richardson, so please lol...

Obviously the people of US Vogue found something about her that I can see that will make her a much bigger model to be, would love to see her and Hilary Rhoda share an editorial at some point too.

Kate deserves this, i'm sure she worked just as hard as these other models, she isn't a hopeless model like Kirsi or Juliane who don't even seem to have anything going for them like Kate.

This all depends on how you look at it and what type of people you grew up around.

I remember sitting in front of a tv screen at my dorm in college while trying to get everyone to watch Fashion TV (torture perhaps). Tons of guys and girls start voicing their opinion over the models. For instance, many people thought that Gemma Ward was nothing special and "there are tons of girls who look like that." I also remember very clearly my roommate saying "how is she a model? she's not even pretty or unique" towards Daria. And some people might say the same thing with Kate.
Where I grew up, I never saw a girl like Gemma. I saw a few girls who looked like Liu Wen and Caroline Trentini though.

If you look at a lot of asian forums and asian interest forums, a lot of people will say that Liu Wen looks like an ordinary asian girl but very tall. Liu Wen even says this in some of her videos that she has a perception that she is "just a plain, simple girl" and didn't grow up thinking she was pretty and still doesn't think that.
Maybe people around where Liu Wen grew up might find Kate Upton exotic and vice versa. Maybe people where Behati Prinsloo grew up might find Kate Upton exotic.

So it all depends on what kind of beauty or looks you were exposed to you while growing up.

BEAUTIFUL.CLASSY.FRESH. the high fashion world needs more of those models I, personally, consider as REAL BEAUTIES. back to 90's ideal!

and, staying at that topic, i didnt really ever understood why the fashion world was so keen on having all those androgyn and sometimes really strangely looking model types. even though its okay in some cases.
not to say i dont like those models, some of them are really great and inspirational as well, but i guess a girl or a woman would rather want to look like Kate here on her next party or event than like any **EDITED** alien. just my opinion

I agree...when some high fashion girls like Doutzen or Lara show their boobs its art or whatever..when she does something sexy..she's promiscuous(meaning of the S word)

well if i say "classic beauty", do you get what i mean?
i'm talking about beauty that people like marylin monroe, audrey hepburn, brigitte bardot or "lately" the 90s supermodels have defined.

if you have a look at the 90s e.g. you can hardly spot any androgyn, jug ears-possesing or ***Edited for weight talk*** models. so, I, personally, prefer models that women can look up to and men find beautiful and hot. i love the idea of victoria's secret models doing high fashion e.g. just like i love the idea that a "sexy" girl like kate does high fashion. its just so refreshing. but i know, that might be my very own opinion.

People can gripe and moan about it all they want to, but when you line up all of this years covers, Kate's cover is one of the best. Easily in the top 3 or 4.

vogue.it

It's 100x better than Linda and Joans covers, who are everyone's "supermodel goddess's"
And I wont even go there with Isebella and Jamie's covers
