whoa shes proving to be in a completely different league than previous si covergirls like bar and irina. just goes to show you looks alone will only take a girl so far. kudos for kate not accepting the word no and having drive further than cosmo covers.

Well I can't say that I saw this coming. I was never a fan of kate however, I think her work speaks for itself. When I first heard that she would be in the pages of US Vogue I damn near had meltdown. But then I saw the images and tried being objective, she pulled it off! I know people just don't want to admit it because they're used to one kind of model being in HF but Kate pulls off both commercial and HF well. Besides, I'm beyond tired of bland models being everywhere. Give me a model with some personality and umph! Bring the supermodels back!

This. Plus, I can't believe Kate is only 20.

i have nothing against kate but i think her landing the cover at this stage of her career is such an insult to other high fashion girls who work so hard for years and still not getting a VI cover.

but she looks good nonetheless. maybe her best cover in recent months.

^How is she different than some random 15yo landing the cover only to blip out in less than a year?

It was inevitable that Kate would be on a cover of Vogue. Although this looks more like Vogue Paris to me, it still is a nice cover.

Tell me about it . However I do agree that there are certain established girls who really should be covering VI nowadays (Kendra, Anais M, Liu) and don't seem to have a chance in hell. Not that I think Kate is stealing the cover from anyone. Saw this coming from a mile away.

She always looks great facially, but my problem is that Meisel went so safe once again. I would have liked to see Karl (maybe even Panos ) style her for a multi-faceted studio editorial, but of course he never works with "pretty" girls...so they pulled Carlyne in for styling. With that done, I know that the editorial will be nothing short of disastrous.

Cue the 'I Hate Kate Upton Brigade.' Wow, this is totally unexpected. She looks great, like a modern day Marilyn.

I'm not a Kate Upton fan and I find her completely bland and uninteresting but she's not entirely responsible for how bad this cover looks. I mostly blame the tacky hair and makeup. Not to mention the horrid styling that has her breasts on display again. It wouldn't bother me if this wasn't the only thing she had to offer. American Vogue did a better job with her.

It is predictable but that's what fashion does, when Lara came out they focused highly and mostly on her boobs and gap... and they do that with every model. Daphne's lips, Freja's androgyny, Candice's sexyness, Natasha's cheekbone's, etc etc, so why would Kate be an exception? Not every model can pull every look unless your Raquel or a couple other models... So I don't think the "predictability" is anything bad this early in her career, because she's barely starting, if in the future they keep exploiting her breasts and sexyness then that would be a problem, it will get boring.... Her body is not overrated its healthy and stunning.... Her personality its not shallow at all, its actually something fresh, she's funny, quirky, and goofy.... That's very shallow right? Now her longevity is still in question, but let just remember the last time Carine, Steven, Franca, and Anna supported a girl this much (Joan Smalls, Lara Stone etc etc) so by judging from the past she has very good chances to stay in the business. I'm not a fan of Kate and I understand some people don't like her for her previous work and that's godo also, but when judging an image you need forget the model and just appreciate and make your opinion and not from the model itself.... I can't stand Anja, and she's probably one of the models I detest the more, but there are quite many covers by her that are just stunning, and tbh people need to judge the image and not the model! She was obviously given the task to be seductive which she does so well!

Did not expect this at all. Kate is really a commercial/all amercian girl next door (FHM). Meisel is more into weird looking models. I hope this is the beginning of beautiful/sexy models back on VI covers.
