Vogue Italia has quite a few March & September covers (including HC supplement covers) with basic, simple an plain (boring if you will) cover shots and stories, so it's just not true that VI is completely changing direction towards a commercial appeal with the current September cover.

See that tartan monstrosity from March 1994 - to me, that cover doesn't exist. I'm going to have to replace that sight with the majestic Mar-Sep offerings of 1991 (same source):

The 3D doesn't translate well in pictures so I wish I could have the issue in my hands to see for myself.

Anyway I'm bored of seeing Miranda everywhere. She's cute alright, but even with the best photographer and styling, I find her boring. And she's definitely not sexy, just cute.

what's so plain and fashion backwards about a 3D editorial? Simple or edgy, 3D is 3D! I truly wish some of you would hold off the comments until you view it in 3D because some of those pictures are breathtaking when viewed in 3D shades. But the review sounds very promising for those who felt let down from the main ed.

Yes, that's why I referred it as "simple". VI September issues usually have these fancy settings and/or utilize a lot of clothes for the main editorial and in this case, it's neither of the two. But I guess "toned down" is more appropriate to describe it especially if you compare it to previous September issues in the past decade.

What's the thing with bare boobs everywhere? Honestly, it's gotten a little old.

Why do people expect gimmicky over the top Meisel covers every month now? He does not even do them well, he has little originality and insight, goes over the top with either photoshopping effects or high concepts that fall flat and look naive; at least this is what has been going on for the past 2 years. So it's a "simple" cover that he does well and cleanly and he tries to be gimmicky by doing that 3D thing. Well, I am just glad his trick does not distract from his photography.

Thanks for posting the review, tarsha. So Malgosia also has an ed in this issue, right in the couture supplement! Can't wait to see it!

thank you for the review , the content is good, not the strongest issue, previous sept. issues were really packed, this is the light version of that.
really excited to see Mariacarla, Malgosia and Rie. i missed Tim Walker.

I"m sorry...but this sounds pretty boring. I guess Roversi's couture editorial will be beautiful, but to me the photographers + stylists + model combos for this issue sounds pretty standard...call it Vogue Paris syndrome.
