^I was a fan also. They were huge back then. Doesn't give them the right to be in the Vogue cover in my opinion though.

Looking at that US Vogue cover for the first time in years, I wonder if Victoria was fuming when she saw the word 'WORST' right under her face.

And if Nina's post over at fashist is to be believed - Victoria Beckham was a contender for the French Vogue cover, and only demands for picture approval scuppered the deal, which then went in favour of Paris. I wonder if there's any truth to that. Well, we'd still be in uproar about either choice, but I think I'd prefer Mrs Beckham.

Carine Roitfeld (french vogue boss aka french Anna Wintour ^^) knows what she does. Trust me I've seen the shoot and it's really pure simple and sofisticated at the same time.. very Vogue ^^ ...but at least the staff of the mag said they knew it was not really their thing to deal with "superpopstar" if we can call paris hilton like this.

When I read Paris was on the cover, I was hoping that at least it would be one of those shots that looks nothing like her... not so much. It looks like another boring pic of a boring girl...

I adored the Spice Girls and by the way Paris Hilton on the cover is lame but I'm still anxious for the contents because the last 6 months or so they were really good and you can't judge a book (or in this case a mag) just by it's cover...

Why a socialite wouldn't have the right to do a Vogue cover?! such girls used to do that back in the early XXth.
Paris is not a socialite. Aerin Lauder is a socialite. Patricia Herrera is a socialite. Jemima Khan is a socialite. Most socialites do not appear in tabloids and do not appeal to teenagers because they are boring (i.e.they do not "do coke out off a stripper's ***" to quote Fishfinger).
Paris is a party girl, a 'it' girl.
I love elegance and I know elegance has not been in fashion since at least WWII BUT I cannot help being saddened each time trashiness (and it best friend: blandness) is given more exposure. Which is very often.

Oh, and the mag will sell. Carine knows what she is doing.

PS: it is very shocking to be reminded that Victoria Adams/Beckham used to look like a human being. And a pretty one at that...

I really wish people would quit giving her the time of day. All she wants is attention and if people would quit giving it to her she'd just fade away.

Eh, let her be. I remember this Bolshevik writer saying how civilizations on the rise tell stories of heroes, and otherwise they tell stories of decay. It is not her fault. She is the symbol of the decadence and demise of our civilization, and she will only disappear if we as a people stopped sucking as a whole.

Decadence is fine, in fact it's excellent, as long as it looks good. That's the problem with this. It looks like s**t. You know, for a Vogue Paris cover.

I guess we can have our dandy philosophical ideas, but at the end of the day it's people who know better, who clearly have an incredible sense for styling and art, who put this on the cover. There are other solutions to a financial problem. Of course Paris isn't at fault for it - who could blame her for wanting to be on the cover of one of the best fashion magazines of the world? Again, VP is not supposed to attract the general public. They're supposed to be above it. I'm beginning to think they are just too "up there" to get a great fashion magazine together these days.
