Thanks for narrowing it down for us BerlinRocks! Lara as Gloria Vanderbilt? That really doesn't shine through for me... Her editorial gives of a very Forties film noir vibe, more Lauren Bacall or Ingrid Bergman than Gloria Vanderbilt.
I LOVE the shots of Tao as Tina. The pics also remind me of Iris's jewelry edit from last month.
Also, I really love that this year Vogue Paris has really been focusing on the classics of fashion- landmark designers, landmark styles, and now landmark women !

The mystery of that issue for me is, why on earth didn't they get Lara to portray Bardot? That'd have been a bit expected, but she could have looked stunning
Why would they do that? It's been done a million times.
Plus W already covered the Lara/Bardot this month.
Oh thank you for the info, that is fantastic.I do like that they went with slightly different icons this time.Lara as Vanderbilt is fascinating because they both have unique "different" sort of beauty, beautiful with a touch of ugly, and didnt Gloria had that infamous tooth gap as well?
YESSSSS! Though I was terribly disappointed by the cover, the contents have totally made up for it! What a great idea to do sort of a fashion icon issue! I really love it that they didn't go for the obvious icons, though. This is more of an homage to cult icons. And it is excellent how the spreads are organized by era. "Gloria" is focused on the grand Hollywood icons of the Thirties and Forties; Natasha's edit is obviously an homage to the Sixties, more specifically Veruschka- the African brush brings to mind that infamous photo of her in the Yves Saint Laurent Saharienne mini-dress holding a musket over her shoulders. Also, Sasha's edit, though it is meant to be inspired by Liza Minelli, has a very Sixties, Edie Sedgwick vibe to it. Sasha PERFECTLY embodies that tragic joie de vivre that Edie so memorably emitted. "Diane K." is very Annie Hall, but also brings to mind Lauren Hutton as well, both Seventies landmarks. And Tao Okamoto as Tina Chow, the ultimate Eighties clotheshorse! The portrayal is uncanny! GENIUS!
And some of the editorials don't necessarily tackle SPECIFIC icons, the models can be any of a handful of women. For example, Sasha is meant to be Liza, but from the styling, she also looks VERY Edie Sedgwick-esque. Also, Nata
