Not particularly keen on this issue of Vogue Russia, I'm afraid!

I'm taking russian in school so I've been buying Vogue to get used to reading it, and I'm impressed by how good this magazine is.

I like the cover and seeing Raquel on the cover is very nice. Vogue Russia don't put celebs on the cover very usually, do they?
I love Vogue Russia eds, they're very creative and they always choose good models!

Second VR use reprints only with Hollywood's celebreties and very very rarely with models. I actually even can't remember when it was last time... Oh probably the Rehab story from VI in October 2007
And Anja's ed looks like original.. I think it IS original

achAT you're a master I you
that's what keeps bothering me all the time. looking through other Vogues i don't really think VR publishes reprints in their editorial section (apart from actresses-socialites-supermodels-extravaganza which is not usually considered as Fashion spreads) because there's really NO eds like that in other editions. Yet when you see them doing reprints from V (Before And After by I&V) or Meisel's Rehab and Makeover stories from Vogue Italia as illustrations to some articles, it does make you wonder.
anyway, i believe the shoots by Irwin-Auleta-Rveriego are really original, but when you see some unexpected choices of photographers-stylists (not the traditional VR team), and even more so, some unexpected aesthetic (just like this Lindbergh's shoot, which to me suits for Numero rather than any of Vogues) it does look surprising.
i have talked to one guy in Moscow who is an Advertising Director of Afisha Publishing House and he told me that VR didn't do ANY shoots itself. i was shocked. but i guess he meant they didn't do shoots in Russia using local photographers and stylists. But to be honest that's the way almost every international publication works nowadays (think Numero Tokyo, Muse, Tank etc). seeing Viktoriya Sasonkina this summer, she admitted that almost all the fashion shoots are done in New York and London and that's just how it works. so no wonder VR has it's London office. i guess this is the way they can hire someone like Patti Wilson or Guido.
but there's still some sort of uncertainity, non?

ps i think i'd be happier if VR didn't do ANY reprints (Meisel, I&V etc). but... VR exists not only for those of TFS junkies.

i believe this spread is a tribute to Russian fashion designer Valentin Yudashkin and his haute couture creations. so all the stuff (even the jewelry) by his house.
