VOLT MAGAZINE – BREATHING NEW LIFE INTO THE MAGAZINE GENRE...
Launching this autumn is VOLT. A new independently published bi-annual publication which aims to share its vision of the world with a like-minded global audience’
Uniquely positioned as a ‘Style Broadsheet’, with its distinctive oversized newspaper format and loose pages, VOLT hopes to breathe new life into the magazine genre.
Brought to you by Founder & Editor in Chief Rui Faria, VOLT is an electrifying celebration of great British Fashion, beauty and talent; a fusion of photographers, artists and stylists expressing their individual flavour and zeal to create fashion in its purest, unadulterated form!
Rui is joined by Fashion Editor Cynthia Lawrence John (ex- Sleaze, Exit,) Art Director Michael Harrison (ex – GQ) and Marketing Director Babou Olengha (Butcher Couture) in delivering the VOLT vision.
Volt magazine officially launches this autumn in Association with PUMA Sport Fashion Collections with the release of its second issue.
Teresa Havvas, Lifestyle Communications Manager at PUMA UK describes the partnership with VOLT as a natural one. “We’re proud to embrace and support emerging, forward thinking concepts within the fields of fashion lifestyle and culture, VOLT is a real treasure to be associated with- its unique vision and flair is one to be admired.”
Puma will be hosting a private launch party on behalf of VOLT magazine on the 18th September 07 at the Microzine store, during London Fashion week.
Bucking the current trend of mini-magazine formats, VOLT aims to captivate its reader by bringing forth something brave, fresh and addictive – a treasure to be hung on walls, collected, or merely admired. The magazine’s uncompromising design qualities and coffee table appeal makes it a unique selling point for both retailers and consumers alike.
With a limited circulation of 10,000 copies, VOLT is sold in the UK, Europe, Japan and the USA through independent and specialist bookstores. For a full list of stockists please visit www.volt-mag.com

Has anyone heard of or bought this magazine ? It stands out primarily because of it's size. I haven't bought an issue yet (it's £5 second issue I think) but do you think that another magazine can cope in an already saturated market ? I think it's size is is perfect for editorial but that might mean lots of adverts

ps. I did a search prior to starting the thread nothing appeared but I apologise if there is already a thread.

Yes! This magazine has been out for a week, and I also was convinced that it had been mentioned already. It's such a bizarre size and shape - in fact, I think its large format is perhaps its only selling point on the newsstand, because I wasn't impressed by its 'grungy model on white background' cover shot. And it seems awfully flimsy for a fiver.

I was tempted mainly because of it's size but I'm fussy and I agree it seems quite flimsy but I'm a photography geek so it will appeal to me regardless.

It's still out in several shops in Belfast, so it'll definitely be in Manchester somewhere. Search all your newsagents - if Belfast can get it, believe me, anywhere will. I didn't see it in WH Smiths, but the smaller independent chains here stocked it (Reads, Easons).
