W has done well, and this is only the August issue, so god knows who or what they've got lined up for their September cover. It's a pity the "pervert robot rumour" wasn't true but I suppose the couple don't want to ruin their chances of being welcomed by middle America. Doutzen's "Little Red Riding Hood who lost her way home" more than makes up for it.

> Can someone tell me what the 'robot rumor' was please?

Someone named 'Larisa' posted a rather detailed description of the leading editorial, and it was all about the couple looking like a pair of demented robots:

And its shocking!!!!!! They appear as androids. Its a pretty long picture story. They are preparing to go the ball, she is pluged in getting refiled, and he is standing in a sort of »closet« filled with what looks like his faces. Then they are at the ball in this huge dance room full of wax figures. She has a slik black dress on and they are sort of dancing. The next picture shows David waiting at the end of the huge stars and Victoria coming down (ala Cinderella) in a yellow split to the thigh dress, and her leg has fallen off. Next one is very suggestive, like they are having robot sex.
In the last picture he is holding her nude (intimate parts are not seen) body and part of his skin is pilled off, you can see the mechanics, while she appears to be broken. It is actually quite disturbing and i have no idea how come the Beckhams agreed to this.

It's "the editorial that never was" but on the other hand, it is so detailed, you wonder, was it really a figment of someone's imagination, or did this get shot and then scrapped because they didn't like it, and in its place, this rather safe series of shots was taken.

What I like most about the description is that part about her leg having fallen off, because it reminds me, in my mind's eye, of a US Vogue Helmut Newton shoot with Nadja Auermann some years ago, where she played the part of a disabled woman, and in one shot, her legs were transposed.
