My first thought was that I didn't like it. But it's growing on me. I think it's the oversized black leather jacket. And the messy quality, of course. Typical Teller, really, but pretty fetching on a cover.

Perhaps these magazines think it's suppose to be shocking but at least to me, it really isn't anymore. I'm still hoping that the editorial is much better then the cover.

Also, like other's have said in this thread, I have to take some fault with the list of movie stars featured in this issue. I am definitely a fan of some of them (Jennifer Lawrence, Keira Knightly, and Emma Stone) but for the most part even I agree that they are all really over exposed. And it's a shame that W didn't think to mention more diverse actors too, I mean they mention Quentin Tarantino's new movie, but no mention of Denzel Washington or Kerry Washington, both whom star in the movie and could be on that list "greatest stars." Or Quvenzhane Wallis, for Beasts of The Southern Wild, she may not be a household name yet but surely they could've mentioned her instead of the same-ol' hackneyed list of people.
I agree with most of what you said. I really like Emma but this does not work at all.

I would argue that Jennifer, even though she has quite a few covers, does deserve to be included as she along with Jessica Chastain is one of the Oscar front runners. That's why featuring Daniel Day Lewis and Bradley Cooper also makes sense. However it would have been great to have Quvenzhane Wallis, Denzel Washington, and maybe older actresses such as Emmanuelle Riva or Judi Dench as well. But it does say that there are more people inside so maybe W has featured them.

Looks like child pornography.

I agree that she, Lawence, Stewart and Knightley are all over-exposed. Next, please!

The whole movie portfolio is shot by Teller.
Personally in a world that is full of airbrushed dull star-approved controlled images I think its amazing that all of those people would be shot (probably not that flaterringly) by him.
Love it.

I probably should have articulated what I said better, I totally get why Jennifer is getting hype (she was great in Silver Linings Playbook) and some of the others listed on the cover too. I guess I was more annoyed that so many of these people listed are typical choices (like Tom Cruise). It would be nice to see people like Denzel, Quvenzhane, and Judi mentioned on the cover as well. Here's to hoping that W features some more unusual choices too!

Oh yeah I completely I agree with you! Some of those featured on the front page are just there to sell more magazines rather than because they deserve it.

I like it, most likely for the same reasons some people don't. It's unexpected and candid with a rawness you don't often see on magazine covers let alone a more mainstream American one like W.

Gah and they were doing so well with covers...

I love her but she hasn't looked her best lately.

Unfortunately, she's joining the ever increasing list of the same people all the time going from one cover to the next.
