Thanks for the update YoninahAliza.

Hopefully other members will get a hold of Sui's cover and dispel the idea of it being only a subscriber's cover. Though, I doubt that since Sui's cover is the one posted on W's site.

I'm going to start checking on eBay for Sui's cover!

Miesel needs to transcend this magic into Vogue Italia. Linda's presence is electric here. Not that I haven't been admiring Meisel's work for Italian Vogue, I just find myself being more interested with his stories for W - and Vogue's his suggested priority. At least Fabulous Fakes thwarts focus off Sui He.. which doesn't fascinate me one ounce.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, it could be down to general interpretation - that most people shopping in a store are not going to see that cover and perceive an unusually forthright piece of political commentary for a fashion magazine, but they will see a distressing situation involving an Asian woman and some violence, which will not be a welcome sight.

So the risk of instantaneous misinterpretation might be too great for it to appear on general sale. And people here might dismiss that, but it's a serious consideration, it's important not to get so lost in the excitement of appreciating the cover's statements, that you forget the American context in which this product will appear.

^ Which is why I find the irony in this whole situation. Here we have Ai Weiwei being silenced and detained by the Chinese government, now his cover for W is being pulled (assuming it did) outside of China.

Unless it was a conscious decision by W to only have Nicki's cover on newsstand, considering members from the US and myself (Canada) have yet to locate the cover.

just got my issue in the mail, and it's the nicki minaj cover... even though i'm a subscriber

would be curious to know what other subscribers have been receiving...

and i only flipped through the issue quickly, but it looks like the faux meisel ads are scattered throughout the magazine as if they are actual ads... so clever
