West Asia Mag Issue n°37 "Black issue" December 2012 : Tyra Banks by Udo Spreitzenbar

Quote:
Issue 37 BLACK is hitting the shelf. The idea came in spring when blooms of colours became too much. WE craved something dark, something with an attitude. Hence black – the colour symbolic of so many things, representing so much across cultures. So be Black with WE. Philippe Pourhashemi talks to fashion designer Iris van Herpen, who finds black feels safe and similar, and the legendary black icon Diane Pernet. See the visual diary of a black widow captured by photographer Kah Poon and Martin Waitt. Dark beauty invades the big apple in Takahiro Ogawa’s photography; but that of the black women is no less charismatic. Then meet our cover girl Tyra Banks. Stylist Ty-Ron Mayes brings us into the depth of her world, followed by the two hall-of-fame Albino black models Diandra Forrest and Shaun Ross. Explore the Lagosian way of Civilisation, before the spirit of blackness captured by photographer ND Chow and stylist Hidero Nakagane blows your mind away.

The models would be called over this on Top Model, for pulling the same face. There's no denying Tyra isn't good at what she does.. to a certain extent.

Why do you keep posting random magazines just because Tyra is in the cover?
And wasnt she done with her "modelling career", I guess this is how desperate you are with a flop show and Naomi biting your ***.

^ lool I keep posting because this month she is gracing 3 magazines' covers lol! But I've posted several other magazines' covers in the past too with other models. Don't get the question here lol. Well she ended her runway career but she still models for covers and editorials from time to time.

She looks amazing in these photos, very high end and the neck is there, it's in the shadows y'all. This is her best shoot to date: the fashion is fabulous, the photography, the pose, her perfect face and the interview is just BEYOND well written. For all the people who don't get why Tyra has made is so big or who doubt her rise in the supermodeling world you should read this.

"West Asia"? Why does the cover say "West East"? And I agree, this is so random it shouldn't have it's own thread.

Chill out people, a fashion magazine is a fashion magazine wether it's a mainstream magazine or not. You'll still input the same negative comments on the rest of the other covers, so don't make a fuss about it's presence.

It's a shame how negative people can be on mainstream models. Tyra clearly has international recognition and that puts her with the League's of Gisele, Heidi Klum, Linda, etc. Not many models can get their own talk show and reality show that easily.

Tyra is one of the 5 most famous models of all time so I dont get why people are worked up about covers she is on SMDH!
That said, she looks exactly like a certain ANTM winner on this cover whose name i forget. I widh her skin tone was warmer it would have been alot better

Because usually her covers are ugly as hell and she's on the most irrelevant magazines.

i would like to see Tyra styled just like Naomi or Gisele would be in an editorial. All of this over-styling and unnecessary make-up and airbrushing is annoying to see for every cover. Every magazine puts from model to mogul, and styles her like a musician or D-List celeb

This thread is doing the most. I don't see what the big deal is though. Its not the greatest cover/ed but I think she looks haute.

but thats ur opinion, there are also people that think that Kate Moss or Daria are boring and thinkt hat magazines like Hercules or Another are random and pretentious. Being a forum we should expect all kinds of covers and eds to match the different fan bases

^ you're right. I do devour AnOther with the blindness of any Vogue-lover, and way more "pretentious" stuff like Encens and Vestoj, but Magazines is still an outlet for fashion publications coming from all kinds of scenes.. reason why I still resent having some smaller publications all under one roof, because even though they may have some shitty covers or main stories (like Io Donna usually does), they're the first ones to give emerging talent an opportunity, so you do see more 'raw' stories, which would be considered laughable here, but it's less edited too so that makes it interesting. Also some people are just interested in other angles of fashion and it's equally fine.

The fact that Diane Pernet is involved keeps me intrigued, precisely because she's always supportive of new publications with something to say..

I'm not into the cover just because it reminds me of when local photographers (that last week were photographing tacky weddings) go "high fashion" and hire equally terrible local models in diva, straight-out-of-ANTM poses and cheap-looking clothes.. which probably just means that Tyra, as fantastic as she was back in the 90s, has become a cliché of her own self.
