REVIEW of BAZAAR MAY 2005: - part ONE- Edits-

BEST EDIT #1: caroline winberg shot by ralph gibson in 12 page SWIMSUIT edit. this is arguably the best edit in a US fashion mag of 2005. For a year Ive been asking glenda to give us a full CW swim shoot & here it is & its as great as we hoped. peerless 2005 swimsuits incl ck, d&g, armani, burberry, cavalli. shot in that clean cut american bazaar swim shoot style that was so great in the 70s [vogue used to look like this too, decades ago]. winberg is so spectacularly beautiful here that she looks like the #1 model in the world. shes a better swim model than gisele even if many of you cant handle that thought. At last an american mag has given us CW shot as hot as many euro mags have done previously. everyone has to see this to see why CW is the best model now & this is arguably the best us fash mag edit of 2005 so far. rating 11 out of 10.

BEST EDIT #2: erin wasson wears 8 extraordinary looks from the chanel archive museum. shot by karl lagerfeld. this edit is a fashion historian/fanatics wet dream. its arguably the most important edit erin has ever appeared in. 8 world class hall of fame genius coco chanel looks incl 1917 camel jersey suit [as great in 2005 as then]; little black dresses from 1926 & 1959 [goes without saying 2 of most important garments in history of world]; 1926 red flapper dress [!]; 1938 black gown [defines elegance]; 1955 & 1963 tweed suits [again 2 of greatest suits ever designed]; and finally 1996 screen print dress that looks very 2005 also, with super-luxe prints being so hot in last year. anyway anyone who loves fashion will be on cloud nine over this edit & its interesting that kl goes with bazaar for this chanel historical edit- when hes chairing the MMA costume ball w/wintour in may for the mma costume show- is there bad blood betw kl & anna? wldnt shock me. for fashion fans this is possibly one of the best edits you will ever see, the best of chanel in the 20th century.
rating 11 out of 10.

BEST EDIT #3: valentino retro/profile shot by KL incl marija wearing val. another great profile/retro piece like Chanel's last 2 months in HB. marija is among top 5 girls of 2005, love love love her. Val is a tremendous fashion luminary, much respect to him & LOVE KL's val candids. superb profile/tribute incl Val retro pics from 1960-2005 shows beyond any doubt why hes at the top class of fashion designers in last 50 years. outstanding.
rating 9.5 of 10.

COVER/EDIT: julia stiles shot by lindbergh. actually for an actress edit this is pretty good. tres luxe evening looks incl ysl, d&g & ralph. lindbergh is great and the stylings good but julia just cant rock like a real model would. not bad for an actress edit though. 6.5 of 10.

EDIT: erin w shot by lubomirski in colorful patterns. better than youd expect. killer prints styles by grace cobb incl missoni, LV, jpg gio, d&g, & oscar.
have not been feeling erin for a long time but give her credit, 2 excellent edits in this may bazaar. rating 7 of 10, great colorful prints.

EDIT: liz hurleys new swim line shot by greg kadel. 3 bikini pics of liz & shes as beautiful & bodacious as ever. give mommy credit. rating 7 of 10.

EDIT: CK feature w/celebs like jen aniston, hil swank, scar johannsson. bryan adams shot it hes a below average to awful photog. rating: 3 of 10.

EDIT: kirsty hume at home shot by lubomirski. cute domestic edit incl hubby donovan & cute 1 yr old violet. nice home feature,. kirsty has style & shes 5'11". rating 6 of 10.

VERDICT: Theres a lot more swim stuff & other great fashion pics inside I will review by saturday but this might be the best US fash mag Ive seen in 2005. caroline winberg looks like the #1 model in this incredible swim edit. the chanel & Val retro/tribute pieces are as good as any retro fashion history pieces Ive seen in years. erin w at the top of her game, liz hurley looking great- this HB is so much better than any us vogue Ive seen in a year or 2.
every month now bazaar is destroying US vogue & that goes double for may. TWO THUMBS UP!! BUY IT!!!!

Do you know who this is, on the cover. I tried looking inside, but all it said was "Jay."

It's bi-annual. I just got it yesterday, together with five other mags, so I haven't had much time to read it, but I love the ed with Gaspar Dietrich, shot by Skye Parrott. There's also "Lazy Day" shot by David Armstrong, with Karl Lindman & Trace @ SVM.

Actually I looked trough the mag again while writing this, and I'd recommend you to pick it up. There's an amazing photo of David Morris in the "Spring Break" ed shot by Andreas Larsson, and that photo alone made the mag worth it's price to me.

I don't know who he is. You could ask in the male eye candy thread though.
