I'm totally disappointed with this campaign, I didn't like at all the first photo which was like a cabbage with a pink satin ribon as i said, but this is the end.
Because thats not the ideal. This isn't new or radical, there are plenty of threads and discussions on this board alone about race in the fashion industry. Minorities are often subjugated and play the roles of tokens or accessories. I am not saying its right, but why in the world would Karl or the Chanel bosses care what's right, they want to make money.

As for Irina, IDK and IDC

I couldn't care less about their money, what is important to me is the result.
And about racism in fashion there's nothing to discuss, anyone with one or two eyes in his face would state that fashion is absolutely racist; and racism is not an ideal, it's a curse.

Ok that's enough. Luxx is certainly right in that there is not a communicative discussion happening here, but a lot of talk that is absolutely unrelated to the advertisement itself (which is the purpose of this thread). If you would like to continue discussing this campaign, or the house of Chanel, solely in relation to race, then please visit the Racial Diversity in Modeling thread.

Thank you!

From the first images to these, there is a huge disconnect.
I have to say I prefer the first one, it was just so sweet and sold the collection well. Maybe that was just a shoe ad though, not the collection ad.

I like these second ones, just not as much as the first. Its very quiet and still. I like it, I just like the original one better
yeah me too ... i'm even thinking "was it really from the main campain ?" "was it just a tease ?" .... i don't see the ressemblance with this one !

anyway ...

it's not a disaster ... that looks fine ...
it's even interesting ... a girl on the departure ... a bit of melancholy .... a new life ...
i pretty much like it ... and i also like the fact there's no "tralala" ...

oh and i'm sorry but i don't really know this girl ... except one or two editorial ... i never paid attention to her ... so i can't get into the "bouh it's heidi debate" ...
....

It's really the same old, same old with Karl. But somehow, i've grown to not mind his monotone style in photography. I can't complain about the casting as I simply adore Heidi. Casting her in this is just genius. I'm glad it ain't that god awful Siri or Sasha

Hopefully, she'll stay as the main face of the house for a couple more seasons.

I don't know exactly what I think about it.

I know that's Chanel and normally I love what Chanel does. Though that ad don't excite me.

I am dissapointed, to say the least, that they chose Heidi Mount. I would have really liked Sasha Pivovarova to be in these ads...

Even so, they look lovely.
It goes without saying that the glorious Sasha would have brought soo much more to this , but i do like the shoe one and stairs one.

Well, I had to see those two photographs a lot of times to find a conclusion. And for me the problem in the first is Heidi's expression, and the second is the shoes I don't like them. But I think that they could have done a better styling because the collection was amazing.
I just hope that they don't use that guitar that Siri was holding

Hooray!! I did a little happy dance when I saw that it was Heidi who snagged the campaign. I think Heidi is a perfect fit for Chanel. She has that "soft" (sorry, I don't know how else to describe it) quality about her that embodies the Chanel girl. Perfection.

I think I'm the only one, but I find this ad campaign really sweet.

Karls photography may not be progressive or 'new' but thats why I like him. It's not overdone.

This is very melancholic and beautiful; Heidi looks superb (especially with EYEBROWS! ).

now when I look at it again, the brows really ruin the picture and the mood of it. why would a girl with such a simple make-up and effortless look have brows like those?? seriously, they only look silly! they should have taken erin o'connor if they wanted noticeable brows.

suvi would have been perfect for this dreamy concept of these ads as well...

Weird. The new ones don't really match the shoe ads at all...but the stairs shot works for me. If they keep her eyebrows covered for the rest of it should be acceptable, at the least.

(And now! I jump cliff!)

The choice of model puzzles me. Heidi is lovely but not a Chanel girl at all. Chanel = charm. Quirky, with slight imperfections, and oh so romantic. There is nothing romantic about Heidi.

The photography puzzles me even more. It's doesn't reflect the brand image. It's way too... realistic. There is no air of romance and mystery - no Chanel spirit. Sasha wouldn't save these either. This campaign is a disaster. It doesn't fit the brand.
