Miss Dior Chérie is a perfume with a lot of energy, sexy, cheeky, playful! I don't see any of that in the ad. I'm pretty sure Natalie could have done it the right way, but apparently that's not the point of the ad.

It doesn't fit the fragrance at all. Too bad!

^According blogger (sassisamblog.com) print ad: Tim Walker and tv campaign by Sofia Coppola. should be out March 2011.

Quote:
..
She also took potshots at her advanced age by joking that her young male co-star in the Sofia Coppola-directed Dior ads made her feel "like an old cougar."

"He's, like, 20," she said.

She may have been playing modest but Parfums Christian Dior head Claude Martinez dubbed the actress "charismatic and elegant."

I just saw this picture of Edita on models.com. It could have been an interesting alternative

Really looking forward to seeing what Sofia will do with Natalie. I'm a fan of Natalie's fresh young look, but like everyone else, the old ad campaign was iconic. Fashion is always moving so fast, so forward and I really doubt I'll be disappointed so I think only good can come of this collaboration.

It astounds me how they've went from Maryna to Natalie Portman. Other than the obvious reasons behind the change.
The image doesn't scream Christian Dior either. Apart from the signature 30 Avenue Montaigne wall carving in the background.

Natalie Portman standing nude with a stupid bow stuck in her hair doesn't summon up the spirit of Miss Dior Cherie to me, it simply looks idiotic. Bring back the blithe, lighthearted blondes - or make the TV campaign so damn good it changes my mind.

ug no no no...if it ain't broke why fix it?? maryna ads were just so perfect! i mean i don't even like the actual smell of miss dior but the ads and commercial were so charming and lovely that it made me want to rush right out and buy a bottle. this looks so unispired and and dull and overdone..i'm sort of afraid to see the commercial.

I disliked it the very first time I saw it,but I think I really like it now!
I'm glad they changed so dramatically the whole concept was extremely cliché.
I am up for something a bit more realistic but yet playful and sexy.

The photographer is Tim Walker- here's more info on the ad campaign, it says that Sofia Coppola will be directing the commercials, which will give it a very artsy spin: http://www.balharbourshops.com/fashion-news-16.html

That's the May 2005 cover she did for W, shot by Mert & Marcus, if I remember rightly (whosdatedwho):
