Donna Karan S/S 2013 : Karlie Kloss by Patrick Demarchelier

CITY AND SEA: Donna Karan has two very different lifestyle propositions in mind for her Donna Karan New York and DKNY spring campaigns, both by Patrick Demarchelier. The Collection images celebrate nature and show Karlie Kloss on the beach, with the sand, sea and sunset playing prominent roles. For DKNY, it was a more urban landscape, with Cara Delevingne and Baptiste Mayeux on New York streets. It was styled with a distinct Nineties flair reminiscent of DKNY’s early days.
If the purpose of a campaign is to sell clothing & accessories, then I don't think this is good. Karlie is an insanely talented model, but this isn't working for some reason. IDK what it is.
This is far too soft and dreamy for me. It's so boring, even Karlie can't save this.
I wouldn't stop to look at this while browsing through a magazine. The logo doesn't even stand out.
Kinda agree that it's a bit too soft and ethereal, but I still really like it. And I'm with you, Sara, the text is off centered and its driving me nuts!

Something looks off about the overall quality of the picture posted here.
Besides that, I think the biggest problem is that how they've used light it's really all about the background and little about the her and what she is wearing. They should have reflected some of that light back on to her. She might as well be silhouetted.
