Favorite Advertisements

What is your favorite ad campaign and why?

Did you buy the product or did you just like the artistry?

all I can think of at the moment are the ads that Moschino did about 2 1/2 years ago. The 'Barbie' ads, with all the girls in their outfits, with matching accessories, all behind plastic, pinned to the back wall of a carton. Very clever, I will never forget those ads, although I think Moschino is scandalously overpriced.

Lately I've been really into Bally's ads, and I loved the YSL ads from last fall.

oo i too loved the moschino adverts, thoose living doll things were great, as were the split personality ads by them... i especially liked the devon one , and the vampire woman one, i even like the recent a/w mens one with the man on the bunk, harsh military look

i am a fond lover of all things dior....and have loved the ad campaigns... i actually have a few ripped out from magazines and stuck on my wall... the trailer bag adverts for 2000/2001 and the logomania ones 1999/2000.... and i really liked the fighter b*tch ads by nick knight for a/w 2001/2002 ... however the new ads for this season are quite lame and boring compared to their predecssors....

i like the louis vuitton fairytale ads (alice in wonderland particularly), balenciaga (but what balenciaga product don't i like?) and, stangely enough, the kate spade ads, because occasionally kids from my school are pictured in them.

Oddly enough, I think both of mine are alcohol campaings. The Absolut vodka ads are not only artisitc, creative, and humorous, they usually reflect current trends and popular icons, with one consistant theme-the bottle and word "Absolut"

The other one is, I believe, a Tanqueray ad: the pitbull with a spiked black collar and fuschia/purple sweater. I am drawn into this ad everytime I see it-something about the pink sweater and the roughness of the dog with the punk collar.

My favorite ad campaigns have alwayd been by DKNY. Their catalogs are awesome, and they always reflect the spirit of New York. If you live in the city, you know what I am talking about. While Donna Karan New York is an uptown label, her younger sister definitely lives in SoHo and Chelsea.

hehe, that dkny ad was shot superclose to my house, but they cut and pasted the photgraphs so it's quite disconcerting... like, sometimes they put a subway stop in the middle of the sidewalk, or a random manhole...

my favorite ad of all time was for an inexpensive cosmetics line- covergirl. it was on the back of one of my old magazines (couple years ago- i think it was '99 or '00). it showcased the "heartland" collection. it was so beautiful- there was this girl wearing a white t-shirt and an olive wool sweater with her hair in cascading, loose waves (it was a chest-&-up pic), and she was wearing these earthy, gold-toned colors of makeup (gold eyeliner, neutral shadow, black-brown mascara, beigey-rust cream lipcolor, tawny blush). she was gazing @ the sunrise with the sunlight shining on her face in wheat field. it was just so perfect- i wanted to be there, ya know? it was so peaceful, and real- made me want to leave the city and live on a farm because it was so beautiful.

My favorite ad campaign of all time is Revlon's Unforgettable campaign. All the best models of that particular period, and some from the years past, all emoting to the max for the camera.....4 per group. It was great!!

In agreement with you Psyche - I love the Absolut ads, though I just can't believe people buy the ads ripped from magazines on Ebay....
