The music is by Fantastic Plastic Machine - "Different Colors".

It was a special movie produced for Louis Vuittoni as an introduction to the Murakami designed pieces (Multicolore, Eye Love, Sakura). I believe it was played in the shops and a DVD with the video was given to special customers. The name's "Monogram Superflat", if I'm not mistaken. I even think that Studio Ghibli produced this video, which means a lot.

Strangely hypnotic, a good piece of brand experimentation for the audience its aimed at, and music is perfect.

Personally I find it too knowingly commercial to warm to it, like it's a kids' cartoon created to hard-sell stilettos - and the concept of it being made for adults is something that wouldn't sell to me, because the message seems to be 'buy the bag and get a free pass back to childhood'... but I'm not the audience.

I like the way when she's sad and suffering misfortune, people keep pushing past her to go into the Vuitton shop... temple of fantasy and general selfishness.

As someone who grew up watching cartoon... I can't help but to be appalled by this "innocent-ized" commercial materialism...

I agree.

Who created the ad? It's a genius piece of advertising. Very true to the Murakami aesthetic.

A little girl being swalled by a giant branded monster. A bit too metaphorical.

I love this ad, and I actually think it's perfect for the intended audience. Like the LV "superflat" bags, and like Murakami himself, this commercial is eccentric and playful, and a little bit perverse in its message.

Although Ghibli didn't direct the video, it was directed by the guy who did The Girl who lept through time!
