Wasn't the fragrance supposed to be named Attention Whore? I guess it should.

I guess her body isn't interesting or captivating enough by itself, hence the need for the little guys. It reminds me of a fake perfume ad from tv movies like Ugly Betty or Boomerang.

This could appear in VP or a Sears catalogue and I'd still think she's as unappealing and annoying as a pimple on my butt. Can't believe I'll have to face this ad in all the September issues.

Steven I beg you, get away from that trainwreck.

I don't really get the hate towards it. I'm not really a fan personally, I'm rather ambivalent towards it. When it comes to celebrity perfume advertisements it's more than better than most of them we see. Beyonce stood in front of yet another wind machine anyone? They're performers, of course they look for attention, and she's no worse than any of the other acts who use their image to sell a product.

It is what it is. A celebrity launching her own fragrance, and selling it through doing what she does. I mean really, unless the advert starts some viscous attack on you, clawing our your eyeballs and leaving you black and blue I'm more than positive you'll be able to live with flicking past it in a magazine. I manage to skip past Victoria Beckham perfume ads just fine.

I think this is such a great image for the ad, it gets your attention, and it sells! Well done Klein, and Gaga.

The most hilarious part of this is the line of text "the first ever black eau de parfum". Wow, I'm just so impressed. Come on gaga, at least give us something along the lines of "provocative, daring, avant garde".

For all her born this way and love yourself talk, she does love ye olde photoshop beauty treatment, because that is at most an approximation of her body, and certainly not her breasts. Let me be clear, I'm not criticizing her body, just the hypocrisy of her whole mantra versus her actions. I just don't see the necessity of the nudity in the whole equation.

But, honestly, did we expect anything else from Lady Gaga? A person who craves fame and names their perfume after it. (And please, some Gaga addict, don't attempt some Gaga V magazine column-style theorizing about how it is just so clever and meta, and she doesn't really crave attention at all and how it is really a searing and intelligent critique of our times).

P.S. Did anyone else think Nine Inch Nail's Closer music video rip off immediately?

Digital Spy

The description on the packaging is kind of amusing.

Witchcrafted by LADY GAGA

-Tears of poor children
-Crushed heart of pop music
-With a Black veil of an attention whore
-And the combinative stench of urine and poo drops

Seriously this is such an ugly perfume!

Damn, it seems like everyone on here is so judgmental. This photo is great, Steven Klein did a great job on this. And I can assure you that if this were for a Vogue Italia ed with an actual model you'd be all over it just like those guys are on her. Most of you probably hate it because it's Lady Gaga, and you're all saying that she's full of herself and she's phony and shallow and blah blah blah but there's a difference between criticism and just being rude and I can see 90% of you are just the latter.
