I hope this will not turn out in a tedious discussion about the defenition of the term 'super model'. I think all these girls are supermodels, most of them are not from the original super models but in this day and age they are, in my humble opinion.

No, she's not, Natalia is a representative Top Model of the early 00's but really far form being a Supermodel, she has never had a household name like Claudia, Naomi, Cindy and the rest. the sames goes for Angela. ![]() |

nothing to do, but that concept of the Supermodels is very 80's and early 90's, it was a cultural movement of that era and that's it, these days there are no supermodels so that's why when I read "Supermodels Angela and Natalia" I was like "uh?"

Today's definition (not the 1992 definition) of a supermodel is a model who's developed enough of a reputation and an impressive enough portfolio that 5 or 6 years after their peak of success, they're still hired for big shows, campaigns and editorials.
Natalia especially has had countless features, full on multi-page articles about her career and her life in a few different magazines....if that doesn't warrant the term supermodel, I don't know what does.

^Agreed. The term supermodel was used already in the 60s. I've seen it used about Verushka by her contemporaries (reading the old mags). Every decade has its supermodels. The 90s supermodel is the most extreme one to date, of course. I would be a little hesitant to call Angela a supermodel - she's not as prolific as Natalia who seems to be able to grab a number of major Vogue covers and any number of editorials at will.

you can't take the term that seriously anymore, have you heard about Supermodel Caprice? Supermodel Sofia Vergara? ![]() ![]() I can see what you mean but that's pretty much the definition of a Top Model, to be a Super you need to have more than a decent portfolio, you need to be a star, to have star appeal and the models of this century lack of that, the last model who took advantage of the concept was Gisele Bundchen. Natalia has not even achieved the 10% of what Schiffer did so I don't think she deserve to be ranked as a Super with her in this Vuitton campaign. it would be Supermodels Stephanie, Claudia, Naomi and Eva + fashion models Angela and Natalia. there are levels, I think ![]() |

i love the 60s vibe of naomi's shot - goes with the car, and she looks so polished. stephanie looks great, if a little bit over-the-top trashy. and natalia is a doll.

Natalia and Angela have both been called "supermodels" by fashion icon US Vogue in print.
But this discussion is lame. Why can't we just focus on the ads, and maybe on the ETC's of the modeling world we can discuss if they are indeed worthy of those titles. |

Eva Herzigova's and Stephanie Seymour's are definitely my favourite so far.
![]() Naomi's shot looks like some sort of joke. Her pose (just laying there on a car) makes a very bad presentation of the clothes. It gives the illusion that her outfit is really badly fitted. ![]() |
