Ugh, how POSTMODERN! Gross, I though PoMo was dead, guess marc didn't get the memo, maybe he was too busy harassing young fellows at Fiesta Cantina in WeHo as he is known to do and not paying attention to actual design asthetics. I'm bored with it already, such a cop-out.
a member of maleeditorials on LiveJournal praised the genius in the angle of the ground in the last picture, and i agreed with him. here's his comment:
"but the last picture is genius. I think it's the background that makes it for me; the angle of the ground."
angle and line seem to play heavily in this. it's hypnotizing.
picture #1: the angle of the piping
picture #2: the angle of the line in the form of the crown of the wall. also, the raised concrete at an angle.
picture #3: the railroad crossing
picture #4: the angle of the ground
other than that, Cole is vulgar looking (and i am not referring to him being semi-clothed).
I think that this is pretty bad. I can only deal with Marc Jacobs' unconventional ads for one more season. Now it is getting a bit too much. And I think Marc needs to dismiss Juergen with these ads. I think he can do so much better! Thank God, he didn't do this mess with LV.
Marc's campaigns always make everyone in them look trashy - sometimes in a good way, however, I already thought Cole was pretty trashy and this just.. puts it over the top.

Does what I said even make any sense?? :|
Yeah, but what is so bad is that Marc's clothes are brilliant, but when he pairs it with the wrong model, and definitely the wrong PHOTOGRAPHER (being a fashion photographer myself) can make a campaign be as amazing as a primary school art exhibit show during the PTA meeting.

This is brilliant. The best photos Teller has produced in years - the colors are so beautiful....washed out yet vibrant. And Cole is one of the few male models I like...he's modeling, not just showing off his package
The more I look at it - the slightly 50s colors is the most wonderful contrast to these images. And yes, the angles with the pipes, and with the industrial wall with some erratic paint splatter - it's a little Newtonian - Newton done with washed out colors and a wormy Morrissey-meets-Lou Reed male model.
