the Tom Ford ad is ridiculous, since it is a fragrance for men I find it disgusting that they used a woman grabbing her breasts (as you can see) to draw mostly straight men to the product..
I've never liked Tom Ford but this really makes me dislike him more. |

"On my knees in Belize. Oh! On my back in Iraq. Oh! Oh! And then there was that time in Nantucket"... Now seriously, wasn´t him the one that a few months ago was telling the world that nudity was old and boring in ads?, come on!, he lost credibility in my book. Ps: I think the ads do catch gay people´s attention, those perfect red nails and lips!, at least he is one stylish pervert.

Is this posted? This is a new American Apparel ad and no one can actually verify it she's a white model made up in blackface or a black model made up in blackface

I think I find the American Apparel ad far more offensive than the Tom Ford one.
Guess I'm a true child of the 21st century... used to big fake boobies by now.

I can't believe American Apparel or any company for that matter would have such an offensive ad in this day in age.

Oh, not me. I've seen too many before and after naked shots, and I far prefer natural shapes, even on older women. Fake boobs just look totally Barbie to me, and I am not a doll. I kind of resent the constant bombardment of breast augmentation.

And to think I was about to spend money on a long sleeve leisure shirt from American Apparel. Glad I didn't. But the fashion world is full of offensive attitudes. Can't escape it.

I'm pretty sure that the American Apparel thing is just a profile/article from i-D, not an ad.

Uhm, what's really offensive about it? Fashion eds/ads are about dressing up, playing with a look. I don't get it.

I don't see anything artistic in it. Blackface or painting of the face with cork is a negative image in history. They'll use makeup to over exaggerate the lips (like this one did) and the eyes and the brightly colored clothing is like the "standard" of blackface performers use to wear. Blackface and minstrel shows drew in white audiences then again blacks weren't allowed or couldn't afford to see the shows anyway . White performers and later some were black performers but still dominated with white playing black characters portrayed blacks in stereotypical roles like lazy, unintelligent or clownish, and overly happy. |
