I don't find it being offensive. I just see it as saying that most times women's periods come at the most inconvenient times, like on someone's honeymoon when someone obviously doesn't want their period for obvious reasons. lol

Regarding that commercial, I find it totally harmless.

And since I spend more time with women than I do men, I feel pretty confident in saying that you're likely in the minority of females who actually like getting their monthly period icelynn....unless I've been lied to and it really isn't an uncomfortable inconvenience that makes going about your day less than pleasant for a few days straight.

Yes,the commercial is not offensive at all to me.Nobody wants to get their period on a trip or during their honeymoon. But in the commercial the girl is not all that depressed about it cause she's got her mighty tampons. So all is well that ends well.Aww...

As a woman, I see nothing offensive about the commercial. Its about not letting your period get in the way of enjoying your vacation. And no female wants to have their period on their Hawaiian vacation or their honeymoon. Its not like the commercial is endorsing for all women to rip out their ovaries and free themselves from the slavery of menstruation. And there are many women out there who are not happy when Aunt Flo makes a visit because we get moody, crampy, bloated, or even ill. Its depicts a very real scenario: I've heard of many women who worry about having their time when they're on vacation and many women make sure that their honeymoon is not going to fall on the same week. I mean who wants to be bloated when wearing their bikini in Hawaii or having it when you should be enjoying your honeymoon? The commercial wants to demonstrate that their brand of tampons will give you piece of mind over one aspect of your period. That's it, nothing offensive at all.

You guys are totally misunderstanding me. I'm not offended by the fact that periods are unpleasant and that the commerical is using that to their advantage, what I find offensive is that they belittle it so much and act like that's all it's about. Like it's some sort of meaningless, freak experience that happens once a month. If it wasn't for the tone of that commerical, just the way they presented it, I would not have been offended at all.

Just trying to understand your point of view, but are you saying that the commercial is saying (tone-wise) that periods are horrible, unpleasant experiences and are nothing else but that and should be dreaded? That periods are nothing but a negative experience?

No, but that they ONLY represents something negative. Like it's pointless. That there's no reason to have them.

Oh I think I see: that the only reason periods exist is to torment/plague women especially on their vacations and honeymoons.

I can kinda see how the commercial can be seen that way, but I took it as how Mother Nature has a sense of humor and you get your gift at the most inconvenient times (I'm sure many females can attest to that). Its like that Alanis song "Isn't it Ironic." You plan for a great getaway and then bam it hits you. I don't think it shows that periods are all bad news because 1.) the period is depicted as a pretty wrapped gift, something with a positive connotation, 2.) the girl isn't crushed that her gift has arrived. She points out to Mother Nature that she has things under control then strolls off with a smile and even is lounging on the beach during her monthly visit. So yeah, it is a bit of a bummer to have it while on your vacation, but as the commercial shows, you still can enjoy yourself while on it, not showing that its a horrible thing that will ruin or torment you during your vacation.

Well I agree with the commercial because I do truly see it as the monthly curse-even with the tampons. Now they make life easier but it's one of those things I could definitely live without, as I do intend to never procreate.

I think a period is nothing but to be avoided and hated.
The only good that comes with it every month is knowing I'm not pregnant.

Geez, I must not be buying the right brand ...

I agree with Gloria Steinem who said that if women ran the world everyone would have an additional two days off a month. I also agree with icelynn that there are positive aspects as well ...

i don't find that offensive in the smallest bit.
it is just trying to make the point that a period does not have to be a negative thing, and that it should not stop you from doing what you normally do without it.

but i am a guy so.......

they're selling tampons. what, should they also point out that "yay, hooray, despite the pain and the inconvenience, we can still procreate! you have your pain and and want to strangle people at times. isn't that a great thing?".

how unrealistic is that? do you have ANY idea how advertisements work?
