I for one like the ads, although the second one is better than the firts IMO. I think the ads show a different side of Versace, for people that think it is entirely about young club goers. Maybe hiring Madanna was an investment for the company to lure an older, maybe more sophisticated customer into Versace. Either way, I love Versace- regardless of the drama behind the label.

That haircolor is just so severe. I don't know if it makes her look younger or older. The first shot is pretty horrendous, in my opinion. I mean, what exactly is she doing? A conference call with some stupid notepad and headset? How dumb. I expected them to be more glamorous, flowing, and not taking place on some cheesy rented set like this.

I'm guessing no matter what Versace does, it will never appeal to either one of you...

That's not true, Lost. My personal favorite ad campaign ever was Versace spring 2001. And the Versace ad campaigns of the mid-late nineties were nothing short of iconic and legendary.

It's not about some bias we have against the brand. It's the fact that for the past 3 years, the product and image turned out by the house has been severely lacking in many ways. This Madonna campaign received a lot of hype and press and the product is a letdown thus far. But we've only seen two images so hopefully the rest will be an improvement.

Also, the clothes here are nothing but basic separates with splashes of gold here and there. I think that before Versace tries to reconquer the world, they need to work on rendering a coherent vision in their collections. I know that their spring 2005 has some fans here, but for me it was just glorified basics with tacky accessories. Bad clothes generally mean bad campaign, regardless of the stars behind, and in front of, the camera--Madonna and Testino, in this case.

This is just a nasty blend of too many people. She kinda looks like the offspring of Samantha(circa when she was a pseudo lesbian) and Carrie bradshaw from sex and the city and are we getting ready to lip synch with that head piece dear? Plus, madonna has not been able to revive any brands lately, look at her gap campaign, it didn't do nearly as well as Sarah Jessica Parker's. Versace seriously needs some more editorial presence, I say she just pays a bunch of high profile stylists to use her stuff in a bunch of editorials.

This is Versace????

What the hell were the thinking? Those are just awful. Madonna looks like she got a batch of bad botox and fell into a vat of peroxide. She looks horrible, and the concept...I don't get it, is it suppose to be some rich Palm Beach buisness woman or something cause it's totally not working for me.
