I'm so sick of Gisele, but Kate looks gorgeus - as always

Not to belabor the point, but ... what's typical varies everywhere; while perhaps I generalized too much in the first comment I made, I know a lot of women who are around Kate's age who would kill to look like she does in this ad. And most of them have not had a "very rough life" .

Given how young a lot of the girls are in some other campaigns (can any of the Prada girls besides Katrin even order a drink?), it's refreshing to see an ad campaign embrace "older" women. It sends a strong message that some people in this industry don't necessarily abandon you as a beauty ideal once you're out of your 20s (or your teens ).

And both these models make the clothes look great, which, at the end of the day, is what it's all about IMO. We can agree to disagree about the particulars of the models selected, since there's probably a thread for models/age elsewhere .

Well you have to remember Kate is photoshopped to Donatella's content in these ads

Kate does look old for her age, but she still works b/c she has a GREAT face that lends itself AMAZINGLY to make-up and photoshop

To look like she does in the ad. After a full face of make up, hair done, clothes styled, special lighting, and photoshop which can make anyone look like a million bucks.

And what's to embrace? She's photoshopped to youth again (Kate that is), and photoshopped to look like the younger girls. There is nothing being "embraced" here.

The hair is what makes this ad look weird because the hair style used on the runway was more sophisticated.

Well, the ads themselves do draw you in with the color and warmth.

But honestly, the casting ruins it for me, particularly with Moss. And I can't help but feel that if Meisel had shot this (as he should be doing because these Testino ads consistently disappoint) he would have done something really great.
