You can see yourself there with a stretch of the imagination (or a long stretch without sleep ). I love the lighting too, the scene looks lit by searchlights in the dark
I agree completely. They've used a rather coarse flash for these pix, it looks like, hence her face is overexposed and the features are hard to see. Anyway, I like the blue/black/yellow colors - that represents the collection well. These pix - with the glaring flash, overexposure and whacky von Wangenheim style angles could have been so cheap looking. But something about the way Daria holds herself gives it a lady like quality - yes this is what a well dressed lady who's been out partying all night would look like when she took a stroll around the Eiffel tower

it reminds me of the old day ads. -70's & 80's- when the fashion houses used to take photos of thier collections in parisian streets around them.

i liked the relaxed & natural attitude in photos setting, such as the damaged fence.

love it very french very YSL, glad to see YSL back to its roots.

AGREED!!...

that was the whole point of starting a FORUM for ADS...
so we would have them all bunched into one monstrosity of a thread...

now we can post and discuss them each individually in a most 'civilized' way...

thx for the thread and the pix kinkexplosion!!...

This is the first time I've seen all the ads, and I'm not a fan...perhaps when I see them in print I'll think differently, or maybe they'll grow on me? For now though, it's thumbs down...I do like her legs in the main one, though!

i have to defend the ads...

if you look at other ad campaigns you all see the same thing going on... great lighting, nice hair, makeup, everything is perfect... i think we need more something understated, something more intellectual, more focus on the spirit of the clothes... and one good example of this is the YSL ads...

yes it's daria... the famous daria face we see on every page of fashion magazines, but look at her with this ads. it's a different daria... more edgier and more spunk...... im not a big daria fan, though. i actually hate her, but made me like her after seeing this cuz im so sick of the daria with the classic beautiful face/vavavoom hair etc....

perfection VS imperfection.... the same idea with the lighting, the contrast, the eiffel tower.... its very realistic... very smart and creative and the way its different makes it stand out =)

thanks to everyone who liked the my posts =)

love it, also in my top favorites of the season. paris and the clothes is what makes me love it completely, i'm sure it could've been a thousand times better with a different model but i guess one cant have it all..

Love it -- makes the clothes and the brand iconic, as opposed to just the model. I love that Karen Elson and Daria are recognizable but obscured... It's very classy.

I like that it looks a little more like an editorial than an ad. They're selling you smthing, but it's more subtle?

It looks louche, luxe, ...dirty Victorian nightlife. YSL's selling more than a pretty face :claps:

thanks for posting these.

not a big daria fan either, think she's just so deer in the headlights all the time, which is why she absolutely shines in this campaign!. think about it. the "searchlighting" comment is perfect. i love the colors. it's like perfectly imperfect which makes it fresh.

my fave campaign of the season...so far

love it love it love it!!!

i love the ads from last season with karen but they were also a real departure to what tom ford did when he was there...the ads were stunning in their own right, but also fresh and new...

these ads are soo very french...i love the background...love the styling...definitely my favorite campaign of the season...

i can't wait to get an issue of W or V where the ads will be really big!

I must say that the ads are a little too ' busy ' , but they capture the true spirit of Pilati's ' rescue ' of the label fom the evil clutches of that wicked witch of the West ( Santa Fe , TEXAS , to be precise ,

NOT , unfortunately , ' PARIS - TEXAS ' !!!!!! ) ,

TOM FORD .
