that chandelier is gorgeous! i agree, glass work is very reminescient of cells and organisms. to be honest dale chihuly's flamboyent aesthetic was never fully agreeable to me, but as i look at it now, many of his pieces are really jaw dropping. thanks for posting, because the similarities to tord boontje never occurred to me.

HeartBeat Lamp

We’ve got more interactive lights courtesy of Greg Trefry and Matty Sallin. Their ornamental lamp detects and “echos” your own heartbeat in realtime. Just place your hands on either side of the lamp base and wait 8~15 seconds for it to detect your pulse, then watch as it throbs to match your heartbeat.
The light is hypnotic and according to the designers, you can watch your pulse slow down by concentrating and relaxing.
