awww anime and manga,
i would say i got started into it because of Sailor Moon,
from there on, it was everything.
I was actually going to college for Manga but i changed my major to Graphic Design to incorporate Photography, Drawing and Computer into one.

I would recommend Bleach to the Guys
and Peach Girls to the ladies, just to name something.
There are a tons.

The colour palettes around 'Paradise Kiss' are so beautiful

loved the intro song.
tommy february6 - lonely in gorgeous

from watching anime i jumped into j-rock/pop
they also used to give j-pop tv on the international channel, no more.....
it's how i kept up with the new japanese tunes.

it's been a while, any recommendations.
any good j-rock/pop songs out there.

on topic: started watching eden of the east recently.
will let you know how that works out.

it's a good song i couldn't find any thread on japanese music in Art of Noise forum, so feel free to start one.. maybe don't use "j-pop" in the title --the search doesn't work with anything less than 4 letters...

i like the opening and ending theme songs for Fruits Basket, by Ritsuko Okazaki

Nodame!!! ahhhhh!!! MUXU! are you liking it so far? I remember watching the live action of Nodame Cantabile in HK subbed into cantonese, and I really liked it; my brother said he had watched it before, so he was dropping sly hints all the time, coming back to Aus I watched the anime version and the live action, it made me want to pull out a concerto and play it again! Chiaki-sempai~~ wooo
I've also wanted to watch 'Last friends' too, but I don't think I want to see Nishikido-kun in acts of DV >.<

When I stayed in HK, I used to watch quite a lot of anime: including many of the ones listed here! Crayon shin chan, Doraemon, Hello kitty and friends, Sailor moon (I thought even back then, wow that Tuxedo Mask sure is something! ) Ultraman,Ai to Yuki no Piggu Garu Tonde Burin- or something like that (the girl who turned into a pink shiny pig and saved the world? ^^ )
And like Dorien, a lot of how I find j-pop and j-rock music starts with what I hear from anime; like when I watched FullMetal Alchemist, and then from there, you gradually get to know more bands which sound similar or are in the same genre

the live action of Nodame Contabile was spot on. everyone pretty much looks like in the anime.

i wish they made a LA of FF 7 advent children.....so they can find a girl that looks like Tifa..... .. ..jejeje

did you guys know they are planning a LA for Cowboy Bebop with Keanu Reaves as Spike! now f'ing way. they are going to kill it.

getting back to music. i already have some fav bands and i manage to keep up, but i know some good music is passing me by. some of my fav intro songs, visually they are quite stunning as well.

monoral - kiri (intro for ergo proxy)
shuntaro okino - cloud age symphony (intro for last exile)

my fave j-rock songs
hyde - hello
hyde - season's call
nana - glamorous sky

currently I only follow Naruto and Bleach... I don't really know why I keep reading Bleach though, lately it's only been absurd fights and no plot at all, you can read a chapter in 30 seconds (maybe that's why I read it )

I don't watch anime, I used to watch Naruto anime, but I got tired with all those fillers of Naruto making friends "yeah, you're just like me! everyone ignores you, you have no friends" after a thousand new friends you get sick of it

Something that I hate is the big eyes manga aesthetic, and when you can't tell the male form the female characters (thinking about Rurouni Kenshin).

Now that you mentioned Kenshin. It's been so long since I watched it. The soundtracks are superb
