The NY penthouse is INCREDIBLE.

When I look at glass houses, I always wonder, "What happens when someone throws a rock at the glass and breaks in?"

Just a few more of Jefferson's house, so cozy, warm and elegant. Just what I would like to be!

Monticello looks unique in every way. So much different than modern construction. (i.e. the bedroom)

Byodoin Temple (Uji, Kyoto)
Byodoin was placed on the World Heritage List in 1994 by UNESCO. You may have seen this building before, as it is on the Japanese 10 yen coin. During the 10th and throughout the 11th century, the Fujiwara family controlled the royal government by maintaining a monopoly on the posts called Sssho and Kampaku. The role of Kampaku was extremely powerful, as it was the chief advisor to the emperor. In 1052, the Kampalu Fujiwara Yorimichi decided to convert one of his father's villas into a temple. This was in the middle of the Heian period (794-1185). In 1053, the Hoodo (more commonly as the Phoenix Hall) was built in order to house a statue of the Amida Nyorai Buddha.

It is said to have been constructed in the shape of a phoenix rising with its spreading wings, and its beautiful reflection in the pond is popular. Inside the building in the center is the enshrined image of Amida Nyorai Buddha. The ceiling is decorated with a luxuriously gilt canopy with raden (lacquered ornamentation inlaid with pieces of mother-of pearl or ear shell), a national treasure, and each wall is surrounded with a relief of fifty-one images of Buddha. Each carries a musical instrument while flying on a piece of cloud and dancing in the sky, representing an embodiment of paradise filled with happiness.

I personally find the White House to be beautiful. If you take a moment to really look at the building, you'll find that the details are amazing.

^When the drapes are that long, you begin to notice them more.

My grandparents are in Europe for two weeks at the moment, and got the pleasure of seeing the castle in person. It's hard to believe it's over 900 years old.
