We put half our books in storage when we moved , but still have three overflowing floor-to-ceiling bookshelves in the living room. They're very dark wood....I love the way it looks--makes the room so much cozier.

everybody is tempting me with these descriptions of home bookshelves and libraries..
i'd love to see pictures if anyone can take them...

When I go home to Boston I will take pictures of my mother's study. It's small but lovely. There are books in every room in the house but her office is especially nice.
I noticed that a lot of these libraries use a lot of the color white. I suppose it's because it's such a nice neutral to bring out the colors of the books. But I don't think it's something I could do, a nearly all white room....
I still love this thread. It's kind of cliche to say, but it's so inspirational. I'm going to get milk/wine crates soon, so I can put my growing collection of books and dvds somewhere and make it look nice. And maybe when I'm older with more funds and space, I'll get some really nice shelves

Thanks for Beauty & the Beast library pic, its amazing Seriously that is my absolute fantasy library. The one in #27 looks so cute and cozy as well, a little cubby hole to escape into.
Thanks to everyone for all the pics
here's pics of the books in my bedroom-- classic novels, general reference/language books and hobbies/fashion/general interest with art mags at bottom (with perfumes interspersed and boxes of knee-high boots on top!) took the pic at nite so very yellow, and couldn't get enough memory in the camera to take pics of the major art picture book/theory collection in the living room.
I am not sure if these have been posted yet. All of these are from dominomag.com
They are actually free standing shelves that she had customed so even if she moved, she could use them saparately. A brill idea for those who rent and are transceint.
Books as a room divider
And my favorite space of all. I love the punches of black!
